Siemens launches SICHARGE FLEX distributed EV charging system delivering up to 1.68 MW for next-generation mobility

SICHARGE Flex: A Flexible, Future-Proof Distributed EV Charging System for the Megawatt Era

(IN BRIEF) Siemens has launched SICHARGE FLEX, its new distributed EV charging system capable of delivering from 480 kW up to 1.68 MW DC with fully dynamic power distribution and charging currents of up to 1,500 A. Designed for both fleet depots and en-route hubs, the system supports CCS and MCS standards and can accommodate up to four MCS charge points per unit. With industry-leading power density and flexible dispenser options, SICHARGE FLEX can adapt to virtually any site. The system integrates with Siemens’ Sifinity Control and DepotFinity platforms to optimize energy use and reduce infrastructure costs. OMV has placed the first order for a site in Kufstein, Austria, strategically located on the A12 corridor. Available in 2026, the solution underscores Siemens’ commitment to sustainable electrification, offering operators flexibility, scalability, and grid-balancing capabilities to support the megawatt charging era.

(PRESS RELEASE) BRUSSELS, 3-Oct-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Siemens has unveiled the SICHARGE FLEX product family, its most advanced electric vehicle (EV) distributed charging system to date, setting a new benchmark for flexibility, scalability, and power density in the charging sector. Introduced at Busworld 2025 in Brussels, the system is designed to serve a wide range of applications, from fleet depots to en-route charging hubs, delivering future-proof solutions for passenger cars, heavy-duty trucks, and eBuses.

At the heart of SICHARGE FLEX is a fully dynamic power distribution system that intelligently allocates power across multiple outlets in real time. Capable of delivering between 480 kW and 1.68 MW DC with charging currents of up to 1,500 A, the system can provide from 80 kW to over 1.6 MW per charging point depending on demand. Supporting both CCS and MCS standards, a single unit can serve up to four MCS charge points simultaneously, enabling operators to deliver the right power, at the right time, to the right vehicle.

The system combines high performance with space efficiency, boasting industry-leading power density of up to 656 kW/m². Flexible dispenser options allow installation up to 300 meters from the central power unit, with configurations including floor-mounted, wall-mounted, or overhead-mounted dispensers, making the solution adaptable to virtually any site layout.

Markus Mildner, CEO of eMobility at Siemens Smart Infrastructure, said: “The introduction of SICHARGE FLEX marks a milestone in our mission to build a sustainable, scalable eMobility ecosystem. By combining cutting-edge performance with modular design and user-centric digital services, this solution empowers operators to scale confidently while optimizing energy use and ensuring cost transparency.”

The system integrates seamlessly into Siemens’ eMobility ecosystem. Through Sifinity Control, operators gain full remote visibility and configuration capabilities, ensuring maximum uptime and operational efficiency. Depot operators can also integrate the system with Siemens’ DepotFinity smart energy management platform, enabling optimized fleet charging under limited grid capacity and reducing infrastructure costs.

Even before its launch, SICHARGE FLEX attracted strong customer interest. OMV, a major Charge Point Operator and Mobility Service Provider headquartered in Vienna, has ordered the first system for its site in Kufstein, Austria, a key location along the A12 corridor connecting Germany and Italy. The site will initially deploy six charging points, expanding to ten following grid reinforcement, and will serve a mix of passenger cars, eTrucks, and eBuses.

En-route charging with SICHARGE Flex enables CPOs to provide versatile charging hubs for cars, trucks and busses.

Eric Schulze, Senior Vice President Retail Mobility & Convenience at OMV, commented: “With SICHARGE FLEX, we can offer future-ready charging infrastructure that combines fast charging, seamless user experience, and scalability in one solution. Our Kufstein site demonstrates how strategic location planning and advanced technology can deliver real value to customers and lead the way in sustainable mobility across Central Europe.”

With availability beginning in 2026, SICHARGE FLEX reflects Siemens’ commitment to driving sustainable electrification through efficient energy utilization, grid-balancing capabilities, and strong cybersecurity protections built into its design. The product family expands Siemens’ fast-charging portfolio and provides customers — including Charge Point Operators, OEMs, fleet operators, and energy companies — with versatile, reliable, and future-proof infrastructure for the transition to zero-emission transport.
