(IN BRIEF) Cimolai Technology has implemented Siemens’ Designcenter NX and Teamcenter solutions from the Xcelerator portfolio to enhance its design and production of custom lifting and handling machinery. Partnering with ATS Global, the Italian company connected its PLM and ERP systems to streamline workflows and manage large-scale assemblies more effectively. This integrated approach was pivotal in developing the Self Propelled Transporter FBT 300 for ESA rocket stage integration. Company leaders highlighted how the new tools improve detail visibility, issue identification, data management and cross-team collaboration. Siemens and ATS Global executives praised the partnership’s potential to drive innovation, optimize processes and secure Cimolai’s competitive edge in demanding industrial markets.

(PRESS RELEASE) PLANO, TX, United States, 11-Jun-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Cimolai Technology, Italy’s foremost specialist in bespoke lifting and handling machinery, has integrated Siemens’ NX design software and Teamcenter PLM as part of its adoption of the Siemens Xcelerator suite. The move, executed in partnership with Siemens reseller ATS Global, is set to accelerate the development of the company’s enormous machines used in marinas, shipyards, infrastructure projects and heavy-industry environments, while also strengthening collaboration between engineering and production teams.

By leveraging Designcenter NX, Cimolai’s engineers can model highly intricate, large-scale assemblies with agility, instantly accessing component details and swiftly identifying potential design conflicts. “With Designcenter NX, our designers enjoy immediate, user-friendly access to complex product data, enabling them to pinpoint and compare issues straight away,” explained Giovanni Sabbini, Technical Manager at Cimolai Technology.

To streamline end-to-end workflows, Cimolai worked with ATS Global to deploy Teamcenter and integrate PLM functions with its existing ERP landscape. This unified digital backbone proved essential during the company’s recent aerospace project: the Self Propelled Transporter FBT 300. Tasked with the horizontal integration of Ariane 6 and VegaC rocket stages for the European Space Agency, the FBT 300 demanded precise handling under extreme loads. According to Sabbini, “Teamcenter allowed us to manage sensitive, complex data seamlessly, anticipate installation challenges and refine the transporter’s design before launch.”

“Remaining at the cutting edge requires tailored solutions and specialized tools,” noted Roberto Cimolai, CEO of Cimolai Technology. “Adopting Siemens Xcelerator equips us to navigate daily technical complexities, deliver sophisticated machines and safeguard critical data. Our ultimate aim is to foster tighter collaboration among designers, engineers, production and installation crews, fueling continuous innovation for our clients.”

Franco Megali, Vice President and CEO for Italy, Israel and Greece at Siemens Digital Industries Software, added: “Cimolai Technology’s decision to embrace Xcelerator underscores our dedication to helping heavy-equipment firms meet evolving market demands. We’re excited to support their efforts to innovate and create exceptional value.”

Mauro Barra, Managing Director of ATS Italy, emphasized that successful digital transformation hinges on both advanced software and optimized processes: “Working side-by-side with Cimolai Technology, we ensured they fully capitalized on Siemens’ tools to boost efficiency and spark new ideas. This collaboration marks just the beginning of a long journey together.”
