Skanska Secures EUR 40M Contract for Major Railway Station Modernization in Slovakia

(IN BRIEF) Skanska has been awarded a EUR 40M contract by The Railway of the Slovak Republic for the modernization of Levice and Veľké Kozmálovce railway stations in southern Slovakia. The project includes the construction of new tracks, installation of switches, improved station security systems, and barrier-free platforms. Additionally, the project will enhance traffic management with an integrated control center and upgrades to catenary lines. Work is set to begin in January 2025, with the project expected to be completed within 12 months, ultimately improving train speeds, traffic safety, and passenger accessibility.

(PRESS RELEASE) STOCKHOLM, 10-Jan-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Skanska has secured a EUR 40M (approximately SEK 460M) contract with The Railway of the Slovak Republic for the modernization of Levice and Veľké Kozmálovce railway stations, located in southern Slovakia. This contract will be included in Skanska’s European order bookings for the first quarter of 2025.

The project involves extensive upgrades to two railway stations, including the construction of 5 kilometers of new tracks and the installation of 41 new switches. Additionally, Skanska will enhance station security systems and build barrier-free platforms, ensuring accessibility for all passengers. The scope of work also includes the creation of new crossroads and the establishment of an integrated control center for remote traffic management, alongside an upgrade to the catenary lines.

Upon completion, the modernization is set to improve train speeds, enhance traffic safety, and provide modern, barrier-free platforms for passengers. Construction is set to begin in January 2025, with an expected completion timeframe of 12 months.
