(IN BRIEF) The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has appointed Harry Boyd-Carpenter as Managing Director of its Sustainable Infrastructure Group (SIG), effective January 2025. Boyd-Carpenter, a seasoned EBRD leader, has been instrumental in advancing the Bank’s green agenda as Managing Director of Climate Strategy & Delivery since 2021. His nearly 20-year tenure includes key roles in power, strategy, and legal departments. He will succeed Nandita Parshad, who retires at the end of 2024, and will oversee SIG’s work in municipal infrastructure, transport, and energy sectors, which represent a significant portion of the EBRD’s business.

(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, 3-Dec-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has announced the appointment of Harry Boyd-Carpenter as Managing Director of its Sustainable Infrastructure Group (SIG), with the role set to commence on 1 January 2025.

A seasoned professional with nearly 20 years at the EBRD, Boyd-Carpenter has been a key figure in advancing the institution’s green investment goals. Since April 2021, he has served as Managing Director for Climate Strategy & Delivery, driving the Bank’s initiatives to align all activities with the Paris Agreement and meet its 50% annual green investment target.

His career at the EBRD includes leadership of the Power and Energy Utilities team within SIG, alongside roles in Corporate Strategy and the Office of the General Counsel. A qualified lawyer, he began his journey at the EBRD in 2005 following positions at Allen & Overy and the European Agency for Reconstruction in Kosovo.

The Sustainable Infrastructure Group accounts for approximately one-third of the Bank’s annual business activities, encompassing critical sectors such as municipal infrastructure, transport, and energy. Boyd-Carpenter succeeds Nandita Parshad, who will retire from the Bank at the close of the year.

This leadership transition marks a new chapter for SIG, reinforcing the EBRD’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure development across its regions of operation.
