STARK Group Introduces Recycled Bricks to Boost Sustainability in Danish Construction

(IN BRIEF) STARK Group has launched a sustainability initiative in Denmark, offering recycled bricks in all its branches to reduce the carbon footprint of construction projects and support the circular economy. Recycled bricks, which have a climate impact ten times lower than new ones, are part of the company’s broader efforts to promote resource efficiency. Additional programs, such as the REWOOD take-back system and the GENPAP packaging initiative, further highlight STARK’s commitment to waste reduction and circular practices. With stricter building regulations in Denmark taking effect in 2025, STARK anticipates rising demand for recycled materials, reinforcing its leadership in sustainable construction.

(PRESS RELEASE) FREDERIKSBERG, 28-Nov-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — STARK Group has further advanced its commitment to sustainability by introducing recycled bricks across all STARK branches in Denmark. This initiative is part of the company’s efforts to promote resource efficiency and circular economy practices, aiming to lower the carbon footprint of future construction projects and support the green transition in the building industry.

With construction materials contributing 11% of global industrial carbon emissions, the reuse of materials like bricks offers a significant opportunity for climate impact reduction. Recycled bricks, for example, have a carbon footprint ten times lower than new ones, making them a valuable alternative for sustainable building practices.

Britta Korre Stenholt, CEO of STARK Danmark, emphasized the importance of this initiative: “We want to make choosing recycled building materials simple and natural, enabling the construction sector to collectively reduce its climate impact. Bricks are among the most carbon-intensive materials, which is why we are proud to offer recycled options for the buildings of tomorrow.”

In addition to introducing recycled bricks, STARK Group is driving various initiatives to foster circularity in the construction industry. These include the REWOOD take-back program in Denmark, Sweden, and Finland, which repurposes unused or temporary wood from construction sites, and the GENPAP project in Denmark, which transforms used cardboard into packaging materials. Both programs aim to reduce waste and provide sustainable alternatives to new resources.

With stricter building regulations focused on sustainability set to take effect in Denmark on July 1, 2025, STARK Group anticipates increased demand for recycled materials. This aligns with the company’s broader mission to innovate and lead the way in sustainable construction practices.

These efforts underscore STARK Group’s dedication to reducing waste, promoting circular economy principles, and supporting the construction industry in achieving its climate goals.
