Airtelis Expands Offshore Wind Support with Airbus H145 Helicopter Agreement

(IN BRIEF) Airtelis has signed an agreement with Airbus Helicopters to acquire up to five H145 helicopters, with an initial order for one, to be operated by its subsidiary Oya Vendée Hélicoptères for offshore wind industry support. Highlighting the H145’s strong performance in offshore applications, both companies expressed enthusiasm for expanding operations in renewable energy. The latest H145 model includes a new five-blade rotor, enhancing payload capacity and reducing maintenance needs, while also featuring low noise and CO2 emissions, making it an efficient choice for offshore wind projects.

(PRESS RELEASE) AMSTERDAM, 7-Nov-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — At European Rotors, Airtelis and Airbus Helicopters announced a new framework agreement for the purchase of up to five Airbus H145 helicopters, beginning with a firm order for one aircraft. These helicopters will be operated by Airtelis’ subsidiary, Oya Vendée Hélicoptères, to support the growing offshore wind industry.

Laurent Giolitti, Executive President of Airtelis, highlighted the H145’s value to their work: “The H145 has demonstrated its capabilities in our offshore wind operations, particularly during the construction of the Yeu Noirmoutier energy platform near Nantes. We’re excited to expand our use of the H145 to continue supporting the renewable energy market.”

Baudoin Marraud des Grottes, Head of Sales for Western Europe at Airbus, emphasized the H145’s strengths for offshore applications. “The H145’s impressive passenger and cargo capacity, coupled with its outstanding hover performance for hoisting, make it a top choice for offshore wind support. We appreciate Airtelis’ continued trust in Airbus helicopters as they expand their offshore operations.”

The latest iteration of Airbus’s best-selling H145 includes a new five-blade rotor, which boosts the helicopter’s payload capacity by 150 kg while simplifying maintenance with its bearingless rotor design. This model enhances serviceability and provides a smoother flight experience for crew and passengers.

The H145, powered by twin Safran Arriel 2E engines and featuring a digital Helionix avionics suite, has a low acoustic footprint, making it one of the quietest helicopters in its class. With over 1,700 units in service globally, the H145 has accumulated nearly 8 million flight hours, cementing its reputation as a reliable, multi-mission aircraft that aligns with Airtelis’ expanding needs in renewable energy.
