VNG – Verbundnetz Gas AG Chairman of the Executive Board Dr. Karsten Heuchert appointed honorary consul-general of Norway

LEIPZIG,12-1-2016 — /EuropaWire/ — Dr. Karsten Heuchert, Chairman of the Executive Board of Leipzig natural gas specialist VNG – Verbundnetz Gas AG (VNG AG), today received his letter of appointment as honorary consul-general from the Norwegian ambassador Elisabeth Walaas. The Norwegian Embassy in Berlin gave the reason for its decision as the growing importance of economic relations between Norway and Germany over the past few years. Heuchert has been an honorary consul of the Kingdom of Norway since 2013.

“It is a great honour for me to be appointed as honorary consul-general of the Kingdom of Norway. Norway and Germany have had reliable business relations for many years. Especially in the energy sector, we have a strong German-Norwegian partnership. For example, Norway is Germany’s second-largest natural gas supplier. As honorary consul-general, I will work for the further development of good partnership between the two countries with considerable commitment,” Heuchert stated.

The honorary consulate-general of the Kingdom of Norway in Leipzig is responsible for the federal states of Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia and Brandenburg. It provides support for Norwegian citizens in all official matters and offers information on Norway to private individuals, institutions and charitable bodies. Especially over the past few years, the number of consular enquiries has risen. In 2015, the consulate dealt with more than 100 enquiries. In addition, the honorary consulate-general fosters German-Norwegian relations in all areas of society within a network of initiatives and institutions.
