(IN BRIEF) SGS has received approval from OSHA to expand its global network of Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTLs) to new locations in Europe and Asia. This development allows SGS to provide localized services to more global clients, helping them meet U.S. product safety standards and gain access to North American markets.

(PRESS RELEASE) GENEVA, 29-May-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — SGS is pleased to announce the expansion of its global network of Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTLs) following approval from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). This approval, effective January 22, 2025, allows SGS to perform product testing and certification for the U.S. market at five new NRTL locations across Europe and Asia, enhancing SGS’s ability to serve global clients and ensuring swift access to North American markets.

The new NRTL facilities are located in:

  • Brussels, Belgium
  • Puchheim, Germany
  • Yokohama, Japan
  • Gyeonggi-do, Korea
  • New Taipei City, Taiwan (China)

Additionally, SGS has received approval from OSHA to expand the scope of its NRTL labs to include the ASME A17.5 Elevator and Escalator Electrical Equipment standard. This extension allows SGS to offer testing and certification services for a broader range of products, contributing to safer workplace equipment globally.

John Ciliege, Global Head of NRTL, expressed his pride in the teams’ achievement, stating, “Congratulations to our laboratory teams for their dedication in earning this esteemed accreditation. This recognition allows us to deliver high-quality, localized testing services to an even wider client base, helping manufacturers and suppliers meet North American product safety standards efficiently.”

The OSHA NRTL program ensures that products meet the safety requirements for use in the U.S. workplace, a vital consideration for manufacturers seeking to enter or expand within the U.S. market. Products that successfully meet NRTL testing requirements are permitted to display the SGS North America Mark, signaling compliance with rigorous safety standards.

SGS’s NRTL services cover a broad spectrum of products, including audio-visual, IT, wireless, medical, household items, lighting, and various consumer and industrial electrical equipment. Through its expanded NRTL capabilities, SGS continues to offer trusted, high-quality testing services that demonstrate a company’s commitment to product safety and regulatory compliance.
