SGS extended its accreditation to process bulk and break bulk cargo entering the Philippines

10-7-2013 — /europawire.eu/ — SGS is pleased to announce their recent successful assessment for renewed accreditation to the Bulk & Break Bulk Cargo Clearance Enhancement Program (BBBCCEP). This contract extends SGS’ accreditation to process bulk and break bulk cargo entering the Philippines.

The BBBCCEP, a government-mandated customs trade facilitation program in the Philippines, authorizes SGS as an Accredited Cargo Surveying Company (ACSC) to inspect bulk and break bulk cargo at the country of export and/or supply and issue Load Port Survey Reports (LPSR) and Summary Reports (SR). These documents are issued on behalf of commercial clients shipping cargoes to the Philippines, with the surveys paid for by either the buyer or seller. The Philippine Bureau of Customs (BOC) receives this information in a secure electronic format directly from SGS prior to the arrival of the goods in the Philippines. This enables the payment of duties and taxes in advance and facilitates movement and the release of imported articles.

This service allows SGS to assist Customs in their efforts to:

  • Improve the assessment of bulk cargoes, paving the way for correct valuation of goods,
  • Reduce the cycle time in the customs entry and release process,
  • Prevent the theft of cargoes going to the Philippines,
  • Increase revenue for the government.

SGS delivers end-to-end work, from the receipt of the required LPSR from the affiliate, to the preparation and submission of all required documents to the BOC and other applicable government agencies. SGS is a world leader in pre-shipment inspection and is pleased to leverage its global network to provide quality and timely service delivery. In the Philippines, SGS offers a range of capabilities to serve the local minerals sector, including coal testing, on-site geochemical analysis and a variety of commercial trade support services.
