Since its launch in November 2024, more than 350,000 smart-meter customers have signed up to enjoy 50% off their electricity every Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. By shifting household activities into these off-peak windows, participants have collectively cut their bills by almost €4.7 million (around £4 million). As the only UK supplier offering discounted power across both weekend days, ScottishPower has successfully encouraged more sustainable consumption patterns while delivering tangible cost savings.

Independent judges praised the campaign for its novel approach to demand flexibility—rewarding customers who move energy-intensive tasks like laundry and cooking into times of higher renewable generation and lighter grid load. Eighty percent of enrollees report deliberately rescheduling chores to weekends, and nearly half (47 percent) feel they’ve significantly reduced their peak-period usage, directly easing pressure on the network.
