(PRESS RELEASE) COURBEVOIE, 18-Jan-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Saint-Gobain has reached a significant milestone in its sustainability journey with the introduction of the Gyproc SoundBloc Infinaé 100 plasterboard in the United Kingdom, a world-first for the company. Following the 2022 launch in France of plasterboard containing at least 50% recycled gypsum, this new product is manufactured entirely from recycled materials, marking a major step forward in the construction industry’s shift toward circularity.

Developed by British Gypsum, a Saint-Gobain subsidiary in the UK, the Gyproc SoundBloc Infinaé 100 utilizes plaster waste sourced from construction sites. These recycled materials are integrated into the production process to create high-quality plasterboard, aligning with the principles of the circular economy and helping construction firms meet their sustainability targets.

Mike Chaldecott, Chief Executive Officer of Saint-Gobain UK and Ireland, commented, “The Gyproc SoundBloc Infinaé 100 is a clear demonstration of our commitment to transforming the construction sector. This innovation underlines our leadership in sustainable construction by promoting material recycling and resource conservation.”

British Gypsum, drawing on its extensive recycling expertise, also offers a collection service for construction site materials, including plasterboard, drywall adhesive, and finishing plasters. Additionally, the company’s collaboration with a circular economy pallet provider further emphasizes its efforts to minimize waste throughout the construction supply chain.

This initiative is part of Saint-Gobain’s broader sustainability goals, contributing to the company’s commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 across all scopes (1, 2, and 3).
