(PRESS RELEASE) PŁOCK, Poland, 27-Jan-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — PKN ORLEN (WSE: PKN), a Polish oil refiner and petrol retailer and the largest Polish company in the Formula 1 paddock, is proud to announce its continued presence in the sport with a new partnership with Italian team Scuderia AlphaTauri. The team, known for its focus on developing future world champions, will sport the ORLEN brand logo on its car throughout the 23-race season, including on the rear wing, nose, and halo rim.

This marks the fifth consecutive year that ORLEN has been a part of the Formula 1 community, a sport that has seen tremendous growth in recent years. Last season’s Grand Prix races were followed by 445 million viewers, and over 5 million people attended races in person. In 2021, video views on Formula 1’s official accounts surpassed 7 billion, and fan engagement levels on social media reached 1.5 billion, an increase of 74% from the previous year.

“ORLEN Group is Central Europe’s largest multi-utility company, serving more than 100 million customers. Global brand recognition is essential to achieve our strategic objectives. Nearly half of the Group’s revenues come from sales abroad. That is why we consistently focus on sports sponsorship, a pillar of which is our presence in the most prestigious racing series. Thanks to this exposure, we reach hundreds of millions of fans around the world and are building a coherent marketing strategy in Poland and abroad. This is a huge potential that we will continue to use effectively in cooperation with Scuderia AlphaTauri,” says Daniel Obajtek, President of the PKN ORLEN Management Board.

Scuderia AlphaTauri is also known for its strong digital presence, with a cumulative 6.5 million followers across its social media profiles. ORLEN sees Formula 1 as a powerful tool for marketing activities in all the markets where its fuel stations are located. The image of the sponsored team’s drivers has been used in previous years to support rebranding efforts in the Czech Republic and Germany, as well as to promote Stop Cafe products, VERVA fuels, and the BIZNESTANK fleet program.

During the 2023 season, the ORLEN logo will be prominently displayed on the car, as well as in the paddock and media walls. The drivers and mechanics will also wear ORLEN branding on their clothes. The new agreement also includes title sponsorship of Scuderia AlphaTauri’s Esports team.

Scuderia AlphaTauri, owned by Red Bull, has a history of developing young talent and has previously nurtured drivers such as Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen, who have a combined 88 Grand Prix wins and six championship titles. This year, the team will be represented by Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda and Dutchman Nyck de Vries. The new season’s AT04 livery will be unveiled on February 11th in New York City, with the first race of the season scheduled for the first weekend in March in Bahrain.
