Michelin Launches CrossClimate 3 Sport All-Season Tire for Sports Cars with Alpine A390 OEM Partnership

Michelin Launches CrossClimate 3 Sport All-Season Tire for Sports Cars with Alpine A390 OEM Partnership

(IN BRIEF) On July 1, 2025, Michelin introduced the CrossClimate 3 Sport, an all-season tire engineered specifically for sports cars. It combines the dynamic performance of a summer sport tire—featuring top “A” wet-grip ratings and motorsport-derived materials—with 3PMSF certification for winter driving. Alpine’s new A390 model will be fitted with a custom “A39” version in size 245/45 R20 103V XL, marking the first OEM partnership for the CrossClimate 3 Sport. The tire is currently available in 29 sizes, with 30 more slated for release in 2026. Early recognition came swiftly: on July 3, the tire received the 2025 Ze Award for Technological Innovation from a panel of industry experts, journalists, and driver association representatives. This accolade underscores Michelin’s pioneering role in creating a tire segment that serves sports car enthusiasts year-round without performance compromise. Michelin, with over 130 years of expertise, remains committed to developing advanced, sustainable mobility solutions worldwide.

(PRESS RELEASE) PARIS, 7-Jul-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Michelin has unveiled the CrossClimate 3 Sport tire, purpose-built for high-performance sports cars, and available since July 1, 2025. This latest innovation follows a decade after Michelin introduced the first summer tire approved for winter use. The CrossClimate 3 Sport marries the handling and responsiveness of a premier summer sport tire with official Three Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMSF) certification for winter conditions—an achievement once deemed unattainable.

Alpine has chosen a bespoke version of the CrossClimate 3 Sport for its new A390 model, the second in its Dream Garage series. Badged “A39,” the custom 245/45 R20 103V XL tires are engineered to match the A390’s unique performance and agility requirements. Michelin’s collaboration ensures the tire delivers all-season driving precision, top-tier “A” wet grip, and consistent durability throughout its life. Thirty additional sizes will roll out in 2026, expanding the current range of 29 dimensions from 205/40R18 to 315/35R20.

Just days after its launch, the CrossClimate 3 Sport earned the 2025 Ze Award for Technological Innovation. A jury of automotive experts, journalists, and driver association representatives commended Michelin for pioneering this new all-season sports tire segment, which now represents 37 percent of the tire market.

“Alpine is the first manufacturer to embrace the CrossClimate 3 Sport, trusting us to meet their demands for enduring safety, simplicity, and sportiness,” said Serge Lafon, Director of Michelin’s Original Equipment Business Line. Dominique Stempfel, President of the French Tire Manufacturers Association, noted that this award reinforces Michelin’s leadership in all-season tire innovation.
