(IN BRIEF) Loughborough Lightning’s Wheelchair Basketball team is set to begin its quest for a fourth consecutive Women’s Premier League (WPL) title on January 18th against Worcester Wolves. Under the leadership of Head Coach George Bates, the team has undergone changes, introducing a blend of youthful talent and experienced players. The squad’s first home game will be held on February 21st against the Mohawks. With a focus on improving each game, the Lightning aims to position itself strongly for the end of the season and the playoffs.

(PRESS RELEASE) LOUGHBOROUGH, 18-Jan-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Loughborough Lightning’s Wheelchair Basketball team is gearing up for its pursuit of a fourth consecutive Women’s Premier League (WPL) title, beginning on Saturday, January 18th, with an away game against Worcester Wolves (tip-off at 5:00 pm). The team, led by Head Coach George Bates, will aim to maintain its dominance in the sport after clinching every WPL championship since the league’s inception in 2021/22.

Bates’ revamped squad features a strong mix of youthful talent and seasoned players, all determined to keep the momentum going. Reflecting on the upcoming season, Bates shared, “This year presents new challenges for us. With several changes to the team, we’ve brought in a group of incredibly talented young athletes. Our focus will be on improving with each game and positioning ourselves strongly for the end of the season.”
