Kazakhstan set to host Orzax Türkiye’s first international food supplement plant with EBRD support

(IN BRIEF) The EBRD has agreed to lend up to €25 million to Orzax Central Asia to finance the construction of a greenfield food supplement manufacturing facility in Kazakhstan’s Turkestan region. The project marks Orzax Türkiye’s first international production base and is designed to serve markets in Asia and eastern Europe. By expanding local manufacturing, the investment aims to reduce import dependence, improve access to certified nutritional products, and support healthier lifestyles. The facility will also contribute to research and development, skills transfer, and employment creation, aligning with the EBRD’s broader focus on private-sector development in Kazakhstan.

(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, 22-Dec-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — A new financing agreement between the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and Orzax Central Asia will support the establishment of a food supplement manufacturing facility in southern Kazakhstan. Under the agreement, the EBRD will extend a loan of up to €25 million to the newly formed Kazakh subsidiary of Orzax Türkiye, enabling the construction and operation of a greenfield production site in the Turkestan region.

The project represents Orzax Türkiye’s first manufacturing investment outside its domestic market and is a central element of the company’s longer-term growth strategy. Once completed, the facility is expected to supply food supplements to markets across Asia and eastern Europe, reinforcing Kazakhstan’s role as a regional base for the production of certified nutritional products.

By increasing domestic manufacturing capacity, the new plant is expected to improve the availability of affordable supplements while helping to reduce the country’s dependence on imported processed foods and nutritional products. This shift is intended to support healthier dietary choices and ease pressures on public health systems in Kazakhstan and the wider Central Asian region.

Kazakhstan’s heavy reliance on imported supplements has historically limited innovation, skills development, and the ability to capture greater value from agricultural inputs. The establishment of local production is therefore seen as an important step toward addressing these structural constraints and strengthening the domestic food processing ecosystem.

In addition to production activities, the facility will provide a platform for research and development as well as workforce upskilling. The project will introduce international manufacturing expertise to the local labour market, supporting skills transfer and creating new employment opportunities in advanced food production.

The investment adds to the EBRD’s long-standing engagement in Kazakhstan, where the Bank has committed more than €10.2 billion across 342 projects, primarily focused on fostering private-sector growth and entrepreneurship.
