FIFA statutory reform process set for Nyon review

11-1-2013 — /europawire.eu/ — As part of the ongoing FIFA statutory reform process, the House of European Football in Nyon is hosting a meeting of the Presidents and General Secretaries of UEFA member associations on Thursday 24 January 2013. The meeting will review in detail various proposed amendments to the FIFA Statutes.

The meeting, which has been requested by FIFA as part of a consultation process with all member associations regarding possible statutory amendments, will start at 13.00 CET and is scheduled to end at 16.00 CET. It will be immediately followed by a press conference attended by UEFA General Secretary Gianni Infantino.

“UEFA wants to ensure that the FIFA statutory reform process maintains its good governance objectives and that this is explained to our member associations in a clear and transparent way, to enable them to make their position clear,” the UEFA General Secretary said. “These matters have been discussed at confederation level, but we now need our member associations to put forward their views. Once we have heard the UEFA member associations’ opinions, these will be presented to the UEFA Executive Committee at its meeting on the following day.”

The main points on the agenda are:

• Review of the amendments to the FIFA Statutes approved at the 2012 FIFA Congress

• Discussion regarding the remaining proposed amendments to the FIFA Statutes

• Discussion regarding other potential amendments to the FIFA Statutes

• Position of the UEFA member associations regarding these proposals, to be presented to the UEFA Executive Committee at its meeting in Nyon on Friday 25 January 2013
