Eneco names Martijn Hagens as new CEO to lead company into next phase of sustainable growth

(IN BRIEF) Eneco has appointed Martijn Hagens as its next CEO, effective 1 March 2026, with Kees Jan Rameau continuing as interim CEO until then. Hagens, currently Senior Vice-President and Head of Business Area Markets at Vattenfall and CEO of Vattenfall NV, brings extensive leadership experience in the energy sector. The Supervisory Board highlighted his ability to drive growth, create value, and advance Eneco’s sustainable strategy. (PRESS RELEASE) ROTTERDAM, 27-Aug-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Eneco’s Supervisory Board has announced the appointment of Martijn Hagens as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective 1 March 2026. Until that date, Kees Jan Rameau will continue to serve as interim CEO.

Hagens, who is currently Senior Vice-President and Head of Business Area Markets at Vattenfall and a member of its Executive Group Management, also serves as CEO of Vattenfall NV in the Netherlands. Over the course of his career, he has held several senior leadership positions at Vattenfall and NUON, building deep expertise in market operations, energy transition, and customer-focused energy solutions.

Hagens holds a degree in Industrial Engineering and Management Science from Eindhoven University of Technology.
