Eneco and TIG Sports & Events Unveil Long-Term Partnership to Develop Sustainable Cycling Platform

(IN BRIEF) Eneco is returning to professional cycling sponsorship after ten years as the title sponsor of the newly renamed Eneco Tour, which will replace the Tour of Holland from 2026 onward. The event will also integrate the Simac Ladies Tour, creating simultaneous men’s and women’s races across the Netherlands between 13 and 18 October 2026. Eneco and TIG Sports & Events have signed a three-year agreement with the possibility of extending it to five years. Organisers said the race will focus on sustainability, innovation, fan engagement and inclusivity while showcasing the Netherlands as a leading cycling country. Future plans include customer-focused cycling activities and initiatives aimed at building a modern sporting platform with both commercial and societal impact.

(PRESS RELEASE) ROTTERDAM, 7-May-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Eneco is returning to professional cycling sponsorship after a decade-long absence through a new partnership with TIG Sports & Events, becoming the title sponsor of the newly renamed Eneco Tour. Beginning in 2026, the former Tour of Holland will officially operate under the Eneco Tour name, while the Simac Ladies Tour will be integrated into the same event structure, creating a combined men’s and women’s cycling competition held simultaneously across the Netherlands.

The renewed cycling event is scheduled to take place from 13 to 18 October 2026 and is positioned as a modern, compact and innovative race designed to showcase the Netherlands as a leading cycling nation. Organisers said the event will feature multiple stages across several Dutch provinces while placing strong emphasis on sustainability, fan engagement and inclusivity.

Eneco and TIG Sports & Events have agreed to an initial three-year partnership with the option to extend the collaboration to five years, reflecting long-term ambitions for the event and its future development. Previous sponsors Simac and NIBC will also remain involved with the race despite the rebranding.

According to organisers, the Eneco Tour is intended to move beyond the traditional structure of stage racing by creating a broader sporting and societal platform that combines elite competition with environmental awareness and public participation. Plans for future editions include customer-focused activities such as cycling clinics and recreational rides designed to strengthen engagement with fans and communities.

Selina Thurer said the company sees cycling as a natural extension of its sustainability mission and highlighted the alignment between the sport and Eneco’s goal of promoting sustainable energy solutions. She added that the partnership creates both commercial and social opportunities while helping increase awareness of the Eneco brand through a widely recognised part of Dutch culture.

Race director Roxane Knetemann described Eneco’s involvement as an important development for the future of cycling, noting that both organisations share a vision focused on sustainable and inclusive event organisation. She said the combined men’s and women’s races would cover the entire Netherlands and aim to build a platform with both sporting and societal relevance.

Niels Markensteijn also emphasised the race’s commitment to innovation, sustainability and fan experience, describing the partnership with Eneco as a reinforcement of the event’s ambition to modernise professional cycling while further promoting the Netherlands internationally.

The return of Eneco to professional cycling revives a familiar name in the sport and signals growing interest among sponsors in connecting sustainability-focused branding with major sporting events. Organisers hope the new format and long-term partnership will strengthen the event’s international profile while helping shape a more inclusive and environmentally conscious future for professional bicycle racing.
