DLMI@Enstek: FrieslandCampina’s State-of-the-Art Dairy Plant Opens in Malaysia

(PRESS RELEASE) AMERSFOORT, 31-May-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — FrieslandCampina subsidiary Dutch Lady Milk Industries Berhad (DLMI) has opened a new dairy plant in Bandar Enstek, located in the Malaysian state of Negeri Sembilan, on 30 May 2024. The state-of-the-art plant, called DLMI@Enstek, is equipped with the latest technology. With the new plant, DLMI will be able to double its production capacity, meeting the growing demand for high-quality and nutritious dairy products in the region.

In line with DLMI’s sustainability roadmap, this dairy plant is designed to achieve a 30 percent reduction in energy and water consumption by 2030, compared to its 2022 baseline.

During her opening speech, the Managing Director of DLMI, Ramjeet Kaur Virik, said that she is pleased with the new sustainable dairy plant: “This opening underscores DLMI’s commitment to  sustainable manufacturing practices, while at the same time improving operational capabilities. After years of preparations, we are now operational. To all the partners. government agencies, and colleagues who cooperated in making this fantastic project a reality, I would like to extend my sincere thanks.”

In his speech, Jan Derck van Karnebeek, the CEO of Royal FrieslandCampina N.V., emphasised the essential role of DLMI@Enstek in meeting the local demand for dairy:  “At FrieslandCampina, we believe that everyone should have access to safe and nutritious food. That is why we are immensely proud of this new production site, which will enable us to produce more high-quality and nutritious dairy products for consumers in Malaysia and the region, thus contributing to food security.”

Besides Jan Derck van Karnebeek and Ramjeet Kaur Virik, the opening was attended by a number of dignitaries, including the ruler of the Malaysian state of Negeri Sembilan. The Dutch ambassador in Malaysia was also present.
