Colas Strengthens Bourgogne-Franche-Comté Presence Through Strategic Public Works Acquisition

(IN BRIEF) Colas has completed the acquisition of Hubert Rougeot Meursault, a family-owned public works specialist with over 60 years of experience in the Burgundy region. The transaction strengthens Colas’ regional presence and expands its ability to deliver integrated road infrastructure solutions, while providing new growth opportunities for Hubert Rougeot Meursault’s 330 employees within a leading international public works group.

(PRESS RELEASE) PARIS, 30-Jan-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Colas has completed the acquisition of Hubert Rougeot Meursault, a long-established, family-owned public works contractor headquartered in France’s Burgundy region. The transaction was finalised on January 29, 2026, following approval by the French Competition Authority in December 2025.

Founded more than six decades ago, Hubert Rougeot Meursault has built a strong reputation as a regional specialist in public works, delivering road construction, networks, pipelines and ducts, earthworks and civil engineering projects. The company employs approximately 330 people and reported revenues of around €70 million in 2025, making it a significant economic contributor in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region.

The group operates six construction business units across the region, supported by two asphalt mixing plants—one operated as a joint venture—a quarry and a recycling facility. Over the years, it has played a central role in the construction, upgrading and maintenance of regional road infrastructure. Its capabilities have steadily expanded through the development of an integrated design office, enabling the company to take on more complex and comprehensive projects that combine earthworks, demolition, landfill operations and network installation.

For Colas, the acquisition aligns with a strategic objective to strengthen its ability to deliver tailored, end-to-end solutions across the full lifecycle of road infrastructure projects, from construction and development to long-term maintenance. The integration of Hubert Rougeot Meursault further reinforces Colas’ regional footprint while creating new momentum for its teams operating in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.

Thierry Méline, Chairman of Colas France, highlighted that the acquisition brings together organisations with closely aligned activities and shared values, including technical excellence, high operational standards and a strong customer-focused approach. He noted that the combination enhances Colas’ capacity to respond to increasingly integrated infrastructure needs across the region.

Christophe Rougeot, Chairman of Hubert Rougeot Meursault, emphasised the strong cultural alignment between the two groups. He said the company’s deep regional roots, employee expertise and family-driven values resonate closely with Colas’ culture. Joining a leading public works group in France and internationally, he added, offers new opportunities for employees to extend their expertise beyond Burgundy while continuing to build on the company’s legacy.

With nearly a century of operations in France and a global workforce of close to 25,000 employees, Colas’ presence in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté will now represent approximately 1,100 jobs following the acquisition, underlining the group’s long-term commitment to the region.
