(PRESS RELEASE) BARCELONA, 31-Oct-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — Names of women such as Lee-Ann Olwage, Lucía Tacchetti, Alina Not, Maria Hein and Juana Dolores will be the highlights of CASA SEAT’s November agenda. In addition, talks on literature, health, energy, design and technology will complete the month’s cultural offer.

On Saturday the 4th, the BCN Z Sessions will open the musical programme with Argentinian singer Lucía Tacchetti, one of the most prominent faces of the current Spanish-speaking electronic music scene and winner of the Vans Musicians Wanted competition. This year, Tacchetti presented her second studio album, FLAPS, a pop-infused electronic approach with singles such as “El Modo” and “Solos”, which she will be performing at CASA SEAT.

Music is set to continue on the morning of the 11th with a recital by the flautist Sofía Salazar and Luis Arias on the piano, in collaboration with Joventuts Musicals de Barcelona and Joventuts Musicals de Catalunya. The musicians will be taking the audience on a sensory journey through some of Spain’s most evocative soundscapes in the CASA SEAT auditorium in Paisatges sonors d’Espanya, including pieces such as Manuel de Falla’s “Siete canciones populares españolas” (Seven Spanish Folksongs), Eduardo de Ocón’s “Recuerdos de Andalucía” (Memories of Andalusia), and “Aires Gitanos” (Gypsy Airs), among others.

Later on in the evening, novelist Alina Not is presenting her new teen romance novel, Fin de Gira, at CASA SEAT. She’s become a national literary phenomenon after being selected in the Crossbooks New Talent competition and having published the Bad Ash trilogy and the Suelo Sagrado duology. The event begins with a talk between the author, her editor Irene Lucas and lifestyle influencer Iryna Zubkova. Afterwards, Alina Not and Iryna Zubkova will sign copies of their books.

On the 17th, Maria Hein will present live her second album, Tot allò que no sap ningú. After her debut album Continent i contingut with which she became one of the revelation artists of the moment, in this new work the artist leaves aside her role as a singer-songwriter to delve into electronic pop. The Mallorcan singer, who has been won awards such as Best New Artist (2021) or Best New Album (2022) by Enderrock, will sign copies of her albums after the concert.

Juana Dolores is visiting CASA SEAT on Saturday the 18th with a video performance in which the poet will interact with ChatGPT. Through an introspective dialogue between a writer and artificial intelligence, the performance “Dear ChatGPT” examines the role of this new tool. Topics such as class struggle, unionism and police violence will be addressed in a dialogue with ChatGPT from a Marxist perspective to expose how modes of censorship continue to be reproduced and manifested today.

A few days later, and for the second year running, CASA SEAT is collaborating with the World Press Photo 2023 exhibition. The 20th, the space is hosting a meeting on photography and mental health with Lee-Ann Olwage, winner of the World Press Photo 2023 award in the Africa Singles category for her project “The Big Forget”, that focuses on stories about dementia in Africa.

Literature and new book launches

On the 7th, Daniel Pérez Rodríguez, a specialist in the energy sector and CEO of L’Energètica, Catalonia’s public energy production company, is presenting his first essay at CASA SEAT, “La superpotència renovable” (Arpa, 2023). In it, he explains why Spain is in an unbeatable position to become an energy superpower.

The following day, Lluís Permanyer will visit CASA SEAT’s auditorium to present his latest book, El Passeig de Gràcia. 200 anys d’un espai burgès (Efadós, 2023). In it, the essayist traces the history of one of the most popular avenues in the world and offers the keys to understanding the reasons that led the Barcelona bourgeoisie to choose this location as a place for socialising.

A new session of the Literary Cafés is taking place on the 14th with Mexican novelist Antonio Ortuño and his latest work, La Armada Invencible (Seix Barral, 2022). The novel tells the story of a brotherhood of musicians who suffer under the weight of the decisions that led them to a mundane existence through its protagonist Barry Dávila, fixated on getting his heavy metal band back together again.

Mobility, technology, and health in this month’s meetings

On the 9th, a new edition of the “ADI Making Of” series will explore four robotics projects from a design perspective. In four presentations, designers and producers from the companies i-mas, GPSeabots, MOS (More On Simplicity) and PAL Robotics will give insights into the advantages and challenges of working on the design and development of new intelligent technology systems.

Mobility and artificial intelligence once again take centre stage at CASA SEAT on the 13th with a meeting that will reflect on how AI is making its mark on urban transport, from autonomous vehicles that transform the driving experience to intelligent navigation systems that optimise itineraries.

On the 16th, Dr. Bonaventura Clotet, Chairman of the Fight Infections Foundation, will visit the CASA SEAT auditorium with the meeting “The future of the fight against infections” to share the lessons learned with the public from a whole career dedicated to fighting diseases caused by the HIV virus, among others. Dr. Clotet will be answering questions about the past, present and future of his work to end some of the major diseases of the 20th and 21st centuries.

All cultural activities at CASA SEAT are free of charge and must be booked in advance at www.casa.seat.
