ANDRITZ’s strategy also focuses on employee development, diversity, safety, and ethical governance across its value chain. CEO Joachim Schönbeck emphasized that sustainability is central to the Group’s innovation and growth strategy as it continues to deliver low-carbon technologies and services for industries worldwide.

(PRESS RELEASE) GRAZ, 29-Aug-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — International technology group ANDRITZ has been awarded a gold medal from EcoVadis, placing it among the top 5% of over 150,000 companies assessed worldwide for sustainability performance. At the same time, the company has announced new ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) targets for 2030, having already surpassed most of its 2025 goals ahead of schedule.

EcoVadis highlighted the strength of ANDRITZ’s sustainability management system and its commitment to transparency throughout its supply chain. In particular, the company was recognized for expanding its climate reporting to include scope 3 emissions and for achieving validation of its climate targets by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). These validated targets form a central part of the Group’s renewed sustainability program through 2030.

“Sustainability is at the heart of how we innovate, operate, and grow,” said Joachim Schönbeck, CEO of ANDRITZ. “This recognition confirms our strategy and motivates us to intensify our efforts to enable the green transition and contribute to a healthy, thriving environment for today and future generations.”

2030 ESG Roadmap
ANDRITZ’s new sustainability framework is built around three pillars: enabling the green transition, supporting people’s growth, and governing with integrity.

  • Enabling the green transition: ANDRITZ will provide low-carbon and resource-efficient solutions for its customers while reducing its own environmental footprint. Its SBTi-approved targets include cutting scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42% and scope 3 emissions by 25% from 2023 levels, in line with the Paris Agreement’s 1.5°C pathway. The share of revenue from products enabling customers’ green transition is targeted to rise above 50%. By the end of 2024, ANDRITZ had already achieved a 50% reduction in scope 1 and 2 emissions, one year earlier than planned, while water consumption fell 14% and waste volume by 36%, surpassing its 2025 targets.
  • Supporting people’s growth: The company will focus on creating a safe and inclusive workplace, increasing the number of women in leadership roles, reducing voluntary turnover, and strengthening employee engagement. Preventing workplace accidents remains a top priority.
  • Governing with integrity: ANDRITZ aims to maintain high ethical standards throughout its global value chain, ensuring sustainability standards among suppliers through assessments, audits, and ESG ratings, while also increasing sustainability certifications of its own operations.

The new 2030 ESG KPIs provide clear and measurable goals, reinforcing the company’s role as a leader in sustainable industrial innovation.
