Ahlstrom Achieves Top CDP Supplier Engagement Rating for Leadership in Climate Action and Sustainable Procurement

(IN BRIEF) Ahlstrom has been awarded an A score in the 2024 CDP Supplier Engagement Assessment for its leadership in sustainable procurement and climate action. The evaluation recognizes companies that set high standards in governance, Scope 3 emissions management, and supplier engagement. Ahlstrom’s approach requires all suppliers to comply with its Code of Conduct, supported by a targeted program for its top 100 suppliers to reduce emissions, safeguard its reputation, and ensure compliance. This achievement follows other sustainability milestones, including a CDP Climate Disclosure A- rating, an EcoVadis Platinum medal, and SBTi-validated net-zero targets.

(PRESS RELEASE) HELSINKI, 15-Aog-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Ahlstrom has earned an A rating in the 2024 CDP Supplier Engagement Assessment (SEA), a recognition of the company’s leadership in climate action and responsible supply chain practices. The CDP SEA evaluates companies on five core areas—governance and business strategy, Scope 3 emissions reporting and verification, target-setting, risk management processes, and supplier engagement—highlighting organizations that drive meaningful environmental progress through their supply chains.

Supplier engagement is a cornerstone of Ahlstrom’s sustainability approach. All suppliers must comply with Ahlstrom’s Code of Conduct or demonstrate equivalent standards, with the company maintaining close partnerships from onboarding to ongoing collaboration. Bernard Arrateig, Responsible Procurement Manager, emphasized that environmental, social, and governance (ESG) priorities are embedded in procurement strategy. “We have launched a supplier engagement program focused on making our supply base an industry benchmark. Targeting our top 100 suppliers, the program aims to cut Scope 3 CO₂ emissions, protect our reputation, and ensure regulatory compliance, supported by ongoing collaborative meetings with our procurement teams,” he said.

This latest recognition complements Ahlstrom’s broader sustainability achievements. Earlier this year, the company earned a Leadership score of A- in CDP Climate Disclosure, received a Platinum medal from EcoVadis—placing it among the top 1% of companies worldwide in ESG performance—and had its 1.5°C-aligned near- and long-term net-zero targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
