Bernard Motzko to become COO of Zumtobel Group in 2018

• Bernard Motzko is to become the lighting group’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) in February 2018.
• Current COO Alfred Felder will be Management Board member responsible for luminaire sales.
• Together with CEO Ulrich Schumacher and CFO Karin Sonnenmoser, the new team is to focus on corporate development, reinforcing the Services sector and improving cost structures.

Dornbirn, Austria, 02-Nov-2017 — /EuropaWire/ — In February 2018 a fourth member is to join the Management Board of the Zumtobel Group: Bernard Motzko, a Mechanical Engineering graduate with a doctorate in Industrial Engineering, is to assume the duties of the current COO Alfred Felder, taking charge of the Zumtobel Group’s global production network. Felder, who joined the Group in 2012 as CEO of Tridonic and has been a member of the Management Board of the Zumtobel Group since 2016, becomes board member responsible for luminaire sales.

Bernard Motzko (55) was born in Upper Silesia and grew up in Germany, where he studied Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration at the University of Paderborn, completing his doctorate in 1994. After holding a variety of positions in the production sector, in 1997 Motzko made his first major career move to join Siemens Nixdorf (now Diebold-Nixdorf), a manufacturer of checkout systems, kiosk systems and automated teller machines. Here he was initially responsible for the Paderborn plant, before assuming a global management role in the production and supply chain sector in 2003. Here he focused primarily on rolling out uniform methods and processes, as well as optimising the production network by setting up plants in Brazil and China.

Alfred Felder (54), joined the lighting group in November 2012. As CEO of Tridonic he was initially responsible for the Zumtobel Group’s components business. In April 2016 he was appointed to the Management Board of the Zumtobel Group. Felder, who holds a doctorate in Electrical Engineering was born and raised in the South Tyrol and previously held a wide range of specialist and management roles with the Siemens Group and its former lighting arm, Osram. In the course of his career he has spent several longer periods in Japan, the US and China. From 2007 to 2012 his activities focused of the sale of semiconductors and luminaires, primarily in Asia.
