NORMA Group to supply eM Safe connectors for US carmaker’s electric vehicle platform from 2027

(IN BRIEF) NORMA Group has secured a EUR 14 million contract to supply eM Safe quick connectors for the thermal management system of a new electric vehicle platform from a major US carmaker. Starting in 2027, the company will supply up to 90,000 vehicles per year until 2034, supporting the expansion of cost-efficient electric cars. The eM Safe connector, produced in Michigan, features a flow-optimized design, dual O-rings for leak prevention, and a Poka-Yoke function to eliminate assembly errors, ensuring maximum safety and reliability. CEO Mark Wilhelms highlighted NORMA Group’s longstanding partnership with the OEM and commitment to enabling low-emission mobility, while Michael Potts emphasized the importance of leak-free systems for EV performance.

(PRESS RELEASE) MAINTAL, 25-Aug-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — NORMA Group has been awarded a significant contract to supply its eM Safe quick connectors for the battery thermal management system of a new battery-electric vehicle (BEV) platform developed by a major US-based automotive manufacturer. Beginning in 2027, the company will provide components for up to 90,000 electric cars annually, with deliveries continuing through 2034. The total contract volume amounts to approximately EUR 14 million. Designed for cost-efficient electric vehicles, the platform is expected to accelerate the adoption of e-mobility by making it accessible to a broader range of customers.

“We have a longstanding relationship with this OEM, having supplied joining solutions for their combustion engine models for many years. Now we are excited to support their shift towards electric mobility,” said NORMA Group CEO Mark Wilhelms. “With our engineering expertise, certified quality, and international footprint, we are a trusted development partner for car makers seeking to expand their low-emission mobility portfolios.”

The eM Safe quick connector has been engineered specifically for electric vehicle requirements, featuring a flow-optimized geometry that ensures consistent pressure in the cooling circuit. Built to SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) standards, the connector is suitable for global applications. It includes dual O-rings for redundancy to minimize the risk of leaks, as well as a Poka-Yoke safety feature that allows the connection to be locked only when properly aligned, reducing assembly errors and enhancing system reliability.

“In electric vehicles, leak-free thermal management connections are crucial for both safety and performance,” emphasized Michael Potts, President Mobility & New Energy at NORMA Group. “Our eM Safe quick connector combines advanced safety, easy handling, and robust performance, making it the smart solution for modern EV systems.”

Production of the connectors will take place at NORMA Group’s facility in St. Clair, Michigan. Deliveries will be made to a tier supplier in the United States, further reinforcing NORMA Group’s presence in the North American e-mobility supply chain.
