(IN BRIEF) The University of Liverpool has experienced a significant improvement in graduate prospects, as revealed by the latest data from HESA. The university has seen a 6% rise in graduates securing high-skilled employment within 15 months of graduation, reaching an all-time high. This achievement has elevated the university’s position within the Russell Group and resulted in a 10-place climb in The Times UK University Rankings for graduate prospects. While most student groups showed positive employment outcomes, graduates from low participation areas in higher education had prospects slightly lower than those from high participation areas. The University of Liverpool aims to address these gaps and provide equal opportunities for all students.

(PRESS RELEASE) LIVERPOOL, 13-Jun-2023 — /EuropaWire/ —  University of Liverpool, a public research university, announces that it has made significant strides in graduate outcomes, as evidenced by the latest sector-wide data released by HESA this week.

The university has witnessed an impressive 6% increase in graduates securing high-skilled employment within 15 months of graduation, marking an all-time high for the institution. This remarkable improvement has elevated the University of Liverpool’s position within the prestigious Russell Group, propelling it four places ahead of institutions such as Queen Mary, Southampton, Newcastle, York, and Edinburgh.

According to The Times’ graduate prospects metric, the University has achieved an impressive ascent of 10 places, now ranking 27th out of 132 universities for the percentage of UK full-time first-degree graduates engaged in highly skilled employment or pursuing further studies. This achievement places the University of Liverpool within the top quartile for graduate prospects across the UK.

Iwan Williams, Head of Careers & Employability said: “I am delighted with the latest results of the Graduate Outcomes survey, which reflect the exceptional achievements of our graduates, and the dedication of our staff from across the University.

This significant improvement is a direct result of our transformative employability change programme, and the news instils a great sense of confidence in our approach, confirming that employability at the University of Liverpool is exceptionally effective and actively fostering the success of our graduates.”

Closing the Gaps

A closer examination of the Graduate Outcomes data by student characteristics reveals encouraging employment outcomes for nearly all priority access and participation (APP) groups. Notably, graduates from low areas of participation in higher education (POLAR4) are the only group experiencing prospects slightly lower by 4% compared to their counterparts from high areas of participation.

The University of Liverpool remains committed to narrowing these gaps and ensuring that all students have equal opportunities to thrive in the job market and pursue successful careers.
