(PRESS RELEASE) ALLENDORF (EDER) / HALLENBERG, 30-Mar-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Viessmann Climate Solutions employees demonstrated their commitment to environmental sustainability through a large-scale tree-planting initiative in Germany. Around 60 volunteers from the company’s Allendorf (Eder) site gathered to plant approximately 1,200 young trees in a forested area near Liesen, part of the town of Hallenberg, reinforcing efforts to support climate protection at both local and global levels.

As a subsidiary of Carrier Global Corporation, Viessmann Climate Solutions participated in the activity as part of Carrier’s broader global sustainability program. The initiative reflects the company’s ongoing efforts to combine environmental responsibility with community engagement.

Thomas Heim, President of Carrier Climate Solutions Europe, praised the strong participation from employees, noting that such initiatives embody the company’s purpose of improving lives while respecting the environment. He highlighted that local actions like the tree-planting effort demonstrate how sustainability commitments can be translated into tangible outcomes within communities.

The Liesen initiative forms part of Carrier’s global objective to plant five million trees by 2030, a program supported by the Arbor Day Foundation. While the initiative includes large-scale reforestation projects in regions such as Brazil’s Amazon, agricultural areas in Kenya, and monarch butterfly habitats in Mexico, it also emphasizes smaller, community-focused efforts near company locations.

For the German project, Carrier collaborated with Schutzgemeinschaft Deutscher Wald Bundesverband e. V., the Arbor Day Foundation’s partner in Germany. The planting activities were overseen by local forester Antje Krohne-Riedesel, ensuring proper implementation and ecological alignment.

The event also highlighted the intersection of corporate sustainability and community partnerships. Roy Makaay, a former striker for FC Bayern Munich, joined the initiative, emphasizing the importance of collaborative climate action. His presence underscored the partnership between Viessmann Climate Solutions and the football club in promoting sustainability efforts. Participants also had the opportunity to engage with Makaay through informal discussions, group photos, and a brief football demonstration.

Local leadership was represented by Enrico Eppner, Mayor of Hallenberg, who highlighted the significance of combining global environmental responsibility with local engagement. He emphasized that such initiatives strengthen the relationship between companies and communities while contributing positively to regional sustainability.
