UK MOD Appoints Savills to Drive Defence Estate Optimisation and Community Impact

(IN BRIEF) The UK Ministry of Defence has appointed Savills as a Strategic Property Advisor to support the Defence Estate Optimisation (DEO) Portfolio, a £5.1 billion investment in modernizing and sustaining Defence Estate infrastructure. Over the next seven years, Savills will provide planning, development, and disposal guidance, beginning with 12 key sites, including Feltham Barracks and RAF Linton-on-Ouse. The partnership aims to maximize social value, community impact, and taxpayer benefit.

(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, 1-Nov-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — The UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) has appointed Savills as a Strategic Property Advisor (SPA) under one of three key contracts for its Defence Estate Optimisation (DEO) Portfolio. Through a £5.1 billion investment, the DEO initiative aims to upgrade and create sustainable, modern infrastructure across the Defence Estate, including accommodations and facilities for over 40,000 personnel and their families, as well as training spaces, medical facilities, and military-specific workshops.

In this seven-year advisory role, Savills will guide the MOD on asset strategy, planning, and the disposal of surplus properties, beginning with 12 initial sites, including Feltham Barracks in London and RAF Linton-on-Ouse in North Yorkshire. The consultancy will also provide expertise in masterplanning, valuation, town planning, and development management.
