Transforming Warehouse Operations: KION, Accenture, and NVIDIA Showcase AI-Driven Future at CES 2025

(IN BRIEF) KION Group, in collaboration with Accenture and NVIDIA, unveiled a vision of the future warehouse at CES 2025 in Las Vegas. The companies are using advanced AI and simulation technologies, including digital twins powered by NVIDIA’s Omniverse and Mega, to optimize supply chain operations. This integration of physical AI into warehouse operations is designed to improve productivity and automate systems like forklifts, smart cameras, and robotics. The partnership aims to create smarter, more agile warehouses that evolve with real-time data, enhancing efficiency and reducing risks like bottlenecks or accidents.

(PRESS RELEASE) FRANKFURT, 8-Jan-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — At CES 2025 in Las Vegas, KION Group, in partnership with Accenture and NVIDIA, presents a cutting-edge concept of the future warehouse. This collaboration highlights how AI and simulation technologies are transforming supply chain management, offering new ways to optimize both new and existing warehouse facilities. Through the use of digital twins powered by NVIDIA’s Omniverse and Mega, the three companies are redefining warehouse operations by integrating physical AI—AI models that mirror real-world characteristics and dynamics—into operations that include automated forklifts, smart cameras, and advanced robotics.

Rob Smith, CEO of KION GROUP AG, emphasized the company’s focus on AI-driven solutions to enhance supply chain productivity. “Our collaboration with NVIDIA and Accenture is paving the way for a new era in warehouse automation,” Smith said. “We are designing warehouses that evolve alongside their environments, solving complex challenges with intelligent systems that operate autonomously and with greater efficiency.”

Accenture’s CEO, Julie Sweet, also shared her thoughts on the collaboration. “Modernizing supply chains is about making them more resilient, adaptive, and able to respond to real-time changes,” she said. “Through this partnership, we are not only reinventing warehouse operations but also raising performance standards, enabling businesses to deliver autonomous, safer, and more efficient supply chains for their customers.”

Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, shared his vision for the future of warehouse automation. “The future of warehouses will see them functioning as autonomous ecosystems, coordinating fleets of robots within their walls,” Huang remarked. “The integration of Omniverse and Mega allows KION and Accenture to fast-track the development of AI and automation for distribution and logistics, marking a new phase for the industry.”

The digital twin technology, integral to the showcase, allows warehouse managers to test and optimize facility setups in a risk-free virtual environment. KION, using NVIDIA’s Omniverse and Mega, will enable operators to design layouts, optimize the mix of robots and human workers, and test these configurations in real-time, all without disrupting day-to-day operations. This approach helps improve efficiency by simulating everything from robot behavior to staffing requirements.

Beyond simulation, the digital twin also plays a key role in training robots to adjust to real-world challenges. By continuously interacting with a virtual environment, robots are able to learn to handle inventory fluctuations, changing demand, and shifts in layout in the most efficient way possible. The collaboration also integrates AI-powered warehouse management software, which assigns tasks to virtual robots that plan and execute actions in a loop, refining their processes through endless scenario testing. An interactive application developed by Accenture for CES demonstrates how the system enhances performance metrics like task completion, throughput, safety, and error rates.

Looking ahead, the companies are developing a vision language model that will capture real-time insights from warehouse operations, helping predict and mitigate bottlenecks, accidents, and other disruptions. By combining cameras, robots, and NVIDIA’s NIM services for edge device deployment, the warehouse of the future will become a seamless, data-driven ecosystem where both humans and machines collaborate safely and effectively.

This revolutionary technology will allow warehouse operators to not only design smarter spaces but also ensure the agility and resilience required to meet the ever-evolving demands of supply chain management.

The warehouse of the future is being showcased at CES at the Accenture Innovation Hub in Ballroom “F” at The Venetian Convention and Expo Center, Las Vegas. For demonstrations, contact jennifer.francis@accenture.com.
