Telia Strengthens Sweden’s Rail Connectivity with Long-Term Communications Partnership with SJ

(PRESS RELEASE) STOCKHOLM, 7-Oct-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Telia has entered into a long-term partnership with SJ, Sweden’s largest train operator, to provide advanced communications services across SJ’s operations and train fleet. The agreement spans mobile connectivity, Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, and crisis management solutions, forming a critical backbone for reliable, high-performance communications across Sweden’s transportation network.

As part of the agreement, Telia will supply comprehensive mobile connectivity and on-board Wi-Fi for SJ’s entire fleet of trains operating throughout the Nordic region and extending to Germany. In addition, Telia will equip SJ with mobile devices and support their digital ecosystem through high-speed and stable connections.

A key component of the collaboration involves the integration of Telia’s cutting-edge IoT solutions, enabling real-time data collection and monitoring of SJ’s systems. This will help enhance operational efficiency, optimize maintenance schedules, and contribute to more sustainable and data-driven train management.

In scenarios requiring emergency coordination, Telia’s independent crisis management platform will provide SJ with secure and rapid communication channels to maintain effective response capabilities during unforeseen events.
