(PRESS RELEASE) STOCKHOLM, 8-Oct-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Sweco has announced plans to acquire Fimpec Group, a Finland-based engineering, consulting, and project management company known for its deep involvement in the green transformation of the energy and industrial sectors. The transaction, which is pending approval from the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority (KKV), will add around 400 highly skilled professionals to Sweco’s team, significantly expanding its capacity to deliver large-scale sustainable energy and industrial projects across Europe.

Fimpec has established itself as a trusted partner in Finland’s rapidly evolving industrial landscape, with specialisation in renewable energy, hydrogen, bio- and circular economy, forest industry, and battery and critical mineral value chains. The company generated a turnover of nearly EUR 51 million in 2024, reflecting strong growth in areas crucial to Europe’s decarbonisation strategy. Its expertise in managing complex industrial investments complements Sweco’s strengths in planning, design, and advisory services, positioning the combined entity at the forefront of sustainable infrastructure development.

Thomas Hietto, Business Area President for Sweco in Finland, described the acquisition as a major step forward: “We are thrilled to welcome Fimpec’s specialists to Sweco. Their expertise and experience in the energy and industrial transitions perfectly align with our ambition to guide Europe toward a more sustainable future. Together, we can support clients in executing complex projects in high-growth sectors such as the battery value chain, critical minerals, renewable energy, and industrial decarbonisation.”

Once the transaction receives regulatory approval, Fimpec will become part of Sweco’s integrated organisation, reinforcing the company’s role as a key player in Europe’s shift toward cleaner industries. The acquisition aligns with Sweco’s strategic focus on expanding its expertise through targeted acquisitions that bring added value and technical depth to its 22,000-strong network of engineers, architects, and consultants.

With this move, Sweco strengthens its position not only as Europe’s leading architecture and engineering consultancy, but also as a major driver of the green industrial transformation — combining local knowledge with cross-border capabilities to shape a resilient, low-carbon future.

Sweco plans and designs tomorrow’s sustainable communities and cities. With the collective knowledge of our 22,000 architects, engineers and other experts we work together with our clients to facilitate the green transition, maximise the potential from digitalisation and strengthen the resilience of our communities. Sweco is Europe’s leading architecture and engineering consultancy, with sales of approximately SEK 31 billion (EUR 2.7 billion) in 2024.
