(PRESS RELEASE) BARCELONA, 9-May-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Skretting, a global leader in the production and supply of aquaculture feed, has officially received certification from DNV under the newly introduced ASC Feed Standard. The formal award of this certification took place during a special ceremony at the Seafood Expo Global in Barcelona.

The ASC Feed Standard establishes a detailed framework for responsible aquafeed manufacturing, setting rigorous criteria in crucial areas such as social and labor rights, environmental management, health and safety, and ethical sourcing of raw materials.

Stefano Crea, Global Market and Industries Director at DNV, praised Skretting for its dedication to sustainability, stating:

“Skretting’s unwavering commitment to sustainability throughout its entire value chain is clearly demonstrated, and we extend our congratulations to them for achieving ASC Feed certification. The new ASC Feed Standard ensures that aquafeed production is conducted responsibly, addressing both environmental and social impacts across the supply chain. It promotes transparency, traceability, and ongoing improvements within the aquaculture industry, which is crucial for sustainable and ethical seafood production.”

Sergio Alanis, Managing Director for Southern Europe at Skretting, commented on the company’s responsible sourcing practices, saying:

“At Skretting, sustainability starts with sourcing responsibly. The ASC Feed Standard provides a structured approach to identifying and mitigating environmental, social, and legal risks related to the raw materials we use. Importantly, it also tackles both environmental and social impacts, offering a solid framework for maintaining human rights within the aquaculture industry.”

Effective October 31, ASC-certified farms will be required to use ASC-certified feed in order to maintain their certification. With this achievement, Skretting strengthens its standing as a trusted partner for ASC-certified farms. A number of Skretting’s customers already hold ASC certifications, and the company continues to align itself with these high standards.

“Guided by our purpose of ‘Feeding the Future,’ we are committed to producing feeds that contribute to food security in a sustainable manner. Skretting focuses on reducing our environmental footprint while enhancing our positive social impact. Over the years, our commitment to innovation and sustainability has raised industry standards in aquaculture feed production. We have supported the ASC Feed Standard from the beginning, and we are proud to have earned this certification from DNV,” Alanis concluded.
