(PRESS RELEASE) ZURICH, 29-Jan-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — SIX, a leading provider of financial market infrastructure, has announced that two key members of its Executive Board, Javier Hernani and Jochen Dürr, will be leaving the company effective 1 February 2025. Their departures mark the end of significant chapters in their careers at SIX, where both have played pivotal roles in driving the company’s international expansion and development.

Javier Hernani, who served as CEO of BME until November 2024, has led the Business Unit Securities Services (Post Trading) since the BME acquisition by SIX. Under his leadership, the unit saw impressive growth and established itself as a major commercial pillar for SIX, expanding its international post-trading business. José Manuel Ortiz, currently Head of Clearing and Repo Operations, will take on the role of interim head of the Business Unit Securities Services until a successor for Hernani is appointed.

Jochen Dürr, who has served as SIX’s Chief Risk Officer for a decade, will also step down from his position. Dürr’s tenure saw the company through a significant transformation in 2017, and he was instrumental in building and developing the security and risk organization that has been vital to SIX’s stability. Markus Gumpfer, Head of Risk Management, will succeed Dürr as the new Chief Risk Officer and join the Executive Board on 1 February 2025.

Bjørn Sibbern, CEO of SIX, expressed his gratitude for the contributions of both Hernani and Dürr. “I would like to extend my deepest thanks to Javier and Jochen for their dedication and leadership during their time at SIX. They have each made invaluable contributions, not only to the growth and international reach of SIX but also to strengthening the Swiss and Spanish financial sectors. I also want to congratulate Markus on his appointment as CRO and warmly welcome him to the Executive Board. I look forward to working closely with him and with José Manuel as he leads the Securities Services business in the interim.”
