(PRESS RELEASE) COPENHAGEN, 6-Sep-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Maersk, a global leader in integrated logistics, has inaugurated a state-of-the-art warehouse facility in El Paso, Texas, marking a significant enhancement in cross-border logistics capabilities. This new 402,000-square-foot facility, strategically located just minutes from the Ysleta-Zaragoza International Bridge, positions Maersk to better support the burgeoning demand for seamless U.S.-Mexico trade.

The new El Paso warehouse is strategically situated at a pivotal juncture for cross-border commerce, optimizing connectivity between El Paso and Ciudad Juárez, Mexico. The facility’s proximity to the Ysleta Port of Entry, the largest commercial port in the El Paso district, is set to streamline northbound trade flows and bolster efficiency for domestic and international cargo.

Designed to handle diverse logistics needs, the facility boasts 73 dock doors, dedicated ramps for oversized cargo, and 116 truck yard spaces. It is equipped for around-the-clock operations with comprehensive security measures, including a fully fenced yard and 24-hour surveillance.

Gordon Branov, Head of Less-than-Truckload (LTL), Full Truckload (FTL), and Linehaul for Maersk North America, highlighted the significance of this expansion: “This new facility represents a major step in our commitment to enhancing cross-border logistics. By integrating our warehousing and distribution services with our established ocean and landside transportation networks, we are positioned to offer a comprehensive suite of solutions tailored to the complexities of international trade.”

The El Paso facility operates as a customs bonded warehouse, offering clients the advantage of deferring duty payments until goods are consumed or re-exported. Additionally, it features an 80,000-square-foot Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) for indefinite duty-free storage. The facility also includes rental office spaces, allowing clients easy access to their inventory.

Compliance with Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) and ISO 9001:2015 certification underscores the facility’s adherence to international security and quality standards. Services offered include cargo sorting, storage, cross-docking, inventory management, order fulfillment, and various value-added solutions such as reverse logistics and kitting.

The opening of this facility adds to Maersk’s extensive network of over 150 warehousing locations across North America, further enhancing its ability to serve industries including automotive, healthcare, retail, and technology. This expansion follows the recent launch of another new facility in Tijuana, Mexico, underscoring Maersk’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its logistics infrastructure in the region.
