Leighton Asia Secures A$160 Million Contract for Choa Chu Kang Waterworks Reconstruction

(IN BRIEF) Leighton Asia, a CIMIC Group company, has clinched a contract worth approximately A$160 million for the reconstruction of Choa Chu Kang Waterworks, one of Singapore’s major water treatment facilities. The project, awarded by PUB, Singapore’s National Water Agency, aims to enhance the operational efficiency of the waterworks through the implementation of cutting-edge water treatment technology and smart capabilities. With a treatment capacity of 80 million gallons per day, the reconstructed waterworks will play a vital role in meeting the water needs of Singapore’s growing population. The scope of work includes mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control, and automation (MEICA) works, along with various associated civil and temporary works. Construction is slated to commence in the second quarter of 2024 and is expected to be completed by 2028.

(PRESS RELEASE) MADRID, 16-May-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — CIMIC Group company Leighton Asia has been awarded a contract for the reconstruction of Choa Chu Kang Waterworks by PUB, Singapore’s National Water Agency.

The contract will generate revenue of approximately A$160 million (S$144 million) for Leighton Asia.

Choa Chu Kang Waterworks is the second largest waterworks in Singapore and has a treatment capacity of 80 million gallons per day.

CIMIC Group Executive Chairman Juan Santamaria said: “Implementing the latest water treatment technology and smart capabilities at Choa Chu Kang Waterworks will improve operation of the facility. The scope of the contract includes mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control and automation (MEICA) works, along with associated building services, civil and temporary works, services diversion, testing and commissioning and plant proving of the reconstructed plant.

Construction is set to commence in Q2 2024 and to be completed by 2028.
