(IN BRIEF) MAN Truck & Bus Italia has delivered the first two MAN eTGX electric trucks to Koinè as part of Sanpellegrino’s move toward greener freight operations. The collaboration will gradually scale to a fleet of 50 eTrucks, supported by solar-generated power at Koinè depots. Initial deployment will cover factory-to-depot routes, accumulating roughly 250,000 km each year while helping reduce logistics emissions. Company leaders from MAN, Koinè, and Nestlé Waters describe the initiative as a benchmark for low-carbon distribution in Italy’s beverage industry. The eTGX models offer long range, fast charging and advanced digital fleet management tools.

(PRESS RELEASE) MUNICH, 5-Dec-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — MAN Truck & Bus Italia has officially handed over the first two MAN eTGX electric trucks to the logistics operator Koinè, marking the launch of a wider transition toward low-carbon heavy transport in Italy’s beverage sector. The vehicles will be dedicated to Sanpellegrino’s logistics network, forming the first step in a long-term plan that foresees the integration of up to 50 eTGX units into Koinè’s fleet over the next few years. To support this shift, new photovoltaic systems are being installed at company depots, allowing the trucks to be charged using self-generated green electricity.

The introduction of the eTGX models signals Koinè’s move toward cleaner, energy-efficient haulage, enabling the company to replace a portion of its diesel operations with zero-emission transport. Daily deployment will initially focus on routes linking Sanpellegrino production facilities with the Madone and Levate distribution sites, where the two vehicles combined are expected to travel approximately 250,000 km annually.

“These deliveries show how quickly road freight is evolving,” commented Michael Kobriger, Member of the Executive Board for Production & Logistics at MAN Truck & Bus SE. “With every electric truck placed on the road, we are proving that performance and sustainability can go hand in hand.”

Koinè has placed sustainability at the core of its roadmap. A new 5 MW solar system will help charge the growing electric fleet, and the company plans to electrify up to one-third of its vehicles within three years, noted Managing Director Paolo Toccafondi, who emphasized both environmental impact reduction and customer value as driving factors behind the investment.

Support for infrastructure planning and fleet conversion is being provided by MOON POWER Italia, responsible for charging technology, and MAN Transport Solutions, offering technical guidance to ensure that operations run efficiently as the fleet expands. Svante Palebo, Global Head of Supply Chain at Nestlé Waters, framed the initiative as an essential part of Sanpellegrino’s decarbonisation strategy and a meaningful step toward supply-chain sustainability.

The two new trucks — MAN eTGX 20.544 4×2 LL SA EB — are equipped with 400 kW (544 hp) electric drivetrains, six battery packs totalling 534 kWh, and can travel up to 570 km on a single charge. Each vehicle is supplied with five years of maintenance coverage and connected fleet optimisation via MAN DigitalServices.
