Ahlstrom’s Sustainable Food Packaging Papers Receive Western Michigan Recyclability Certification

(IN BRIEF) Ahlstrom, a leading producer of sustainable and fiber-based packaging solutions, has achieved Western Michigan Recyclability Certification for several food packaging base papers utilizing its proprietary FluoroFree® technology. These products are used in applications like quick service restaurant packaging, pet food packaging, microwave popcorn, and confectionery, as well as non-food packaging. The certification demonstrates the company’s commitment to offering sustainable packaging solutions, reducing waste, and promoting environmental responsibility within the packaging industry. The tests were conducted at Western Michigan University’s Pilot Plants, dedicated to recycling process innovation, testing, and certification.

The range of FluoroFree® products that have achieved recyclability certification are produced in Ahlstrom’s North American operations and are used in such applications as quick service restaurant packaging, pet food packaging, microwave popcorn, and confectionary, while also providing solutions for non-food packaging applications.
