Telefónica Demonstrates Future Connectivity Solutions and Quantum Technologies at Mobile World Congress 2026

(IN BRIEF) Telefónica will showcase its latest digital technologies and network capabilities at Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona under the theme Ready for Next. The company’s 951-square-meter stand will feature a circular design centered around a large 360-degree LED ring and will include demonstration areas highlighting technologies such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, IoT, network slicing, satellite connectivity, robotics, and advanced 5G solutions. New accessibility features such as NaviLens QR codes will improve the experience for visually impaired visitors. Key demonstrations will include Mission-Critical Dome for emergency connectivity, Titan Connect for business continuity, and Quantum Telco showcasing enterprise quantum technologies and quantum-safe security. The stand will also host 24 sessions led by around 60 experts in the Agora presentation space, while sustainability principles and reusable materials will be incorporated into the exhibition design.

(PRESS RELEASE) MADRID, 25-Feb-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Telefónica will participate in the Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona from March 2 to 5 under the theme Ready for Next, presenting its vision of becoming the preferred gateway for citizens and businesses to access advanced digital technologies through high-performance connectivity and innovative solutions. The company will highlight its technological capabilities at a purpose-built exhibition space designed to demonstrate how next-generation networks support emerging digital services.

The Telefónica stand will cover 951 square meters and feature a circular layout symbolizing openness, continuity, and connectivity. At the center of the stand will be a suspended 360-degree LED ring measuring 15 meters in diameter, forming the focal point of the exhibition and hosting the company’s Agora presentation space. The design reflects Telefónica’s ambition to strengthen its leadership in digital innovation while providing improved services for customers and partners.

The exhibition area will include three major demonstration zones occupying more than 500 square meters. These areas will showcase practical applications of advanced technologies including quantum computing, the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, network slicing, satellite connectivity, fog computing, drones, robotics, and the capabilities of Telefónica’s 5G network.

For the first time, demonstrations will incorporate NaviLens QR codes to enhance accessibility for visitors with visual impairments. The system allows users to access audio descriptions of the exhibits in Spanish or English through a specially developed application, improving the overall visitor experience.

Telefónica Chairman Marc Murtra will take part in a GSMA-organized panel discussion titled What Does Strategic Tech Sovereignty Mean for Europe? on March 2. The session will also be broadcast live from the company’s stand.

Technology Demonstrations

One of the key demonstrations, Mission-Critical Dome, will be staged at multiple locations across Barcelona. The experience simulates emergency response scenarios and illustrates how advanced connectivity technologies can support disaster management. The demonstration will show how a unified command center can maintain communications with field teams through a combination of satellite connectivity, fog computing, artificial intelligence, drones, robotics, and network slicing integrated into a 5G Tactical Bubble solution designed to restore connectivity during crises.

The Titan Connect demonstration will focus on maintaining uninterrupted business connectivity in high-demand environments. The scenario recreates a major sporting event with heavy network traffic alongside a simulated medical emergency, showing how connectivity can be preserved while emergency services respond. The demonstration will highlight Telefónica’s integrated technology portfolio, including standalone 5G, fiber networks, satellite connectivity, cloud services, cybersecurity, automation, observability tools, and secure network management.

Telefónica will also present its Quantum Telco initiative, which demonstrates practical uses of quantum technologies in enterprise environments. The company will showcase applied quantum computing projects developed with partners such as Würth, Vithas, and the Francisco de Vitoria University. Demonstrations will include logistics optimization, pharmaceutical research for cancer treatments, and network design optimization.

The Quantum Telco presentation will also include quantum-safe communication solutions designed to protect data centers and enterprise networks from future quantum-based cyber threats. Telefónica has already introduced commercial services based on post-quantum cryptography standards and continues to develop quantum key distribution technologies. The demonstration will also highlight solutions that support organizations in migrating their IT systems toward quantum-safe security standards in line with emerging European regulatory requirements.

Agora Presentation Space

The central Agora area will serve as the main presentation venue within the stand. Located beneath the circular LED structure, it will host a program of 24 sessions presented by approximately 60 executives and technology specialists. The sessions will be open to all Mobile World Congress attendees and will also be available online.

The Agora will combine presentations with immersive visual experiences, including interactive elements that transform audience participation into digital artwork and multimedia displays. The space will accommodate around 80 visitors at a time and will function as a platform for sharing knowledge, technology demonstrations, and case studies.

More than 25 Telefónica representatives will also participate in panel discussions and sessions organized by GSMA, Mobile World Congress, and 4YFN, contributing to industry discussions on digital transformation and connectivity.

Sustainability considerations are integrated into the stand’s design, with reusable materials and energy efficiency measures incorporated into the construction. The exhibition space will undergo evaluation based on circular economy and environmental performance criteria, reflecting Telefónica’s commitment to responsible innovation.
