Survey by workplace designers Maris Interiors: let your staff choose where they sit in the office for more productivity

London, UK, 19-2-2014 — /EuropaWire/ — You might not associate budget air travel with excellent seating, but it seems the UK office could learn much from the mile-high world of limited leg space.

Research by low cost airline Easyjet showed how passengers much preferred to choose their own seat in advance, even if that meant paying a slight premium for their preferred position. For instance, fewer than 1% of their customers chose to sit in the middle of a row of seats.

This all takes us back to the office. A recent survey by workplace designers Maris Interiors suggests that when staff are given more choice about where they sit in an office, the more productive they become. Maris Interiors Managing Director David Cannon agrees: “When possibly, give people a choice about where they sit. Think how annoyed you’d be at home if you were told you always to sit on a specific corner of the sofa!”
