SSAB Names Per Elfgren as New Head of Special Steels to Drive Innovation and Sustainability

(IN BRIEF) SSAB has appointed Per Elfgren as the new head of SSAB Special Steels, where he will leverage his extensive experience in market development, product innovation, and international sales. Having been with SSAB since 1996, Elfgren’s expertise is expected to strengthen the company’s high-strength steel offerings and advance its sustainability goals as it aims for fossil-free production. He succeeds Johnny Sjöström, who recently became SSAB’s President and CEO.

(PRESS RELEASE) STOCKHOLM, 29-Oct-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — SSAB has appointed Per Elfgren as the new head of SSAB Special Steels, effective November 1. Currently leading Market Development at SSAB Special Steels, Elfgren brings over two decades of experience within the company, where he has held key roles in marketing, sales, and product development. Having joined SSAB in 1996, Elfgren has also overseen Abraservice, an SSAB subsidiary, and served on the SSAB Special Steels Management Team for the past eight years.

Elfgren’s appointment follows Sjöström’s recent transition to his role as SSAB’s CEO. With a background in Material Physics, Elfgren will join SSAB’s Group Executive Committee, further strengthening the company’s leadership in high-strength steel innovation and sustainability.
