The collaboration will enable Telia to deliver more flexible, automated, and scalable services, paving the way for advanced digital experiences across industries. Nokia, already recognized as a global leader in 5G SA technology, continues to set benchmarks for innovation, agility, and sustainability in telecommunications infrastructure.

(PRESS RELEASE) ESPOO, 6-Nov-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Nokia has strengthened its long-term collaboration with Telia through a new agreement to enhance the telecommunications provider’s 5G networks across Finland, Sweden, Norway, Estonia, and Lithuania. As part of the deal, Telia will deploy Nokia’s cloud-native 5G Standalone (SA) Core architecture across its Nordic and Baltic footprint, while also expanding its network capacity and coverage in Finland with Nokia’s advanced Radio Access Network (RAN) portfolio.

The rollout of Nokia’s 5G SA Core will enable Telia to offer more flexible, scalable, and automated network services to consumers, enterprises, and public sector organizations. The next-generation core architecture will empower Telia to deliver innovative, high-performance connectivity and support the development of new digital solutions that rely on ultra-low latency, reliability, and speed.

Alongside the core deployment, the integration of Nokia’s RAN solutions will significantly enhance Telia’s network capacity and efficiency in Finland. The upgrade will reduce energy consumption while improving coverage and performance, supporting Telia’s sustainability goals and advancing its transition toward a greener, smarter digital future.

Alexandra Fürst, Chief Technology & Information Officer at Telia Company, emphasized the strategic importance of the collaboration:
“This partnership with Nokia is key to Telia’s 5G ambitions. Our 5G networks are already world-class and are trusted by entire societies. By further advancing the capabilities of Telia’s infrastructure, we will create new possibilities for our customers—from people and enterprises to essential public services. As networks become more intelligent, adaptive, and automated, AI unlocks a future where connectivity anticipates needs, accelerates innovation, and empowers entirely new digital experiences.”

Kal De, Senior Vice President of Product and Engineering for Cloud and Network Services at Nokia, added:
“We are proud to deepen our partnership with Telia to advance its 5G capabilities. Nokia’s fully cloud-native core is part of our multicloud strategy to help customers roll out innovative new services quickly, securely, and with automation in a highly agile, scalable environment.”

Nokia continues to lead the global 5G Standalone market, with the world’s highest number of operator customers — 127 in total — and 55 live deployments as of Q3 2025. The company’s leadership has been further recognized by Omdia’s Market Landscape: Core Vendors – 2025 report, which ranks Nokia first for its core network portfolio capabilities, and by Gartner, which named Nokia a Leader in its 2025 Magic Quadrant™ for Communication Service Provider 5G Core Network Infrastructure Solutions.

Through this renewed collaboration, Nokia and Telia are setting the foundation for a new era of digital transformation in Northern Europe — one defined by intelligent, energy-efficient networks and seamless 5G experiences.
