Nokia and AWS Introduce Agentic AI Powered 5G Advanced Network Slicing for Adaptive Premium Telecom Services

(IN BRIEF) Nokia has partnered with Amazon Web Services to introduce the first agentic AI-powered intent-based 5G-Advanced network slicing solution deployed in a live network environment. The technology combines Nokia’s advanced slicing capabilities with AWS AI platforms to enable telecommunications providers to deliver premium services that automatically adapt to real-world conditions such as traffic surges, emergencies and large public events. The system analyzes network performance and contextual data from multiple sources and adjusts slicing policies to maintain service quality and optimize resource use. du and Orange are the first operators exploring the solution. The innovation supports enterprise and industrial applications as well as consumer services and is designed to help operators create new revenue opportunities while improving network efficiency and responsiveness.

(PRESS RELEASE) ESPOO, 24-Feb-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Nokia has announced a collaboration with Amazon Web Services to introduce an industry-first agentic AI-powered 5G-Advanced network slicing solution in a live 5G environment. The intent-based innovation combines Nokia’s network slicing capabilities with AWS artificial intelligence technologies to help telecommunications providers deliver premium network services that automatically adjust to changing real-world conditions. Operators du and Orange will be the first to evaluate the new solution within their networks.

The agentic AI-powered slicing system analyzes real-time and contextual data drawn from open Internet sources and operator networks, including traffic conditions, events, locations, maps and incident reports. Using this information, the solution dynamically adapts network slicing policies to provide enhanced service performance precisely where and when it is required. This automated approach allows service providers to create differentiated premium services that respond intelligently to evolving customer demand.

Telecommunications providers often face difficulties maintaining consistent network performance during unexpected traffic spikes, emergencies and large public gatherings. Traditional network slicing methods rely on manual configuration or static rules, which can limit responsiveness. The new autonomous slicing intelligence continuously monitors conditions and adjusts network resources across geographic areas, enabling more efficient use of infrastructure while maintaining service quality.

The innovation enables a range of enterprise and consumer use cases. Intent-based enterprise slicing measures key network indicators such as latency and throughput and automatically modifies radio access network policies to meet service-level agreements across business campuses, industrial sites and urban areas. This capability supports applications in manufacturing, Internet of Things deployments, smart cities, healthcare, transportation, energy networks, ports and drone operations.

On-demand slicing allows operators to improve performance at selected base stations when triggered by external data. This capability can enhance connectivity for emergency responders and public safety authorities during critical situations while maintaining service levels for premium 5G and fixed wireless customers during sudden traffic increases or environmental disruptions. Applications such as gaming, streaming, extended reality and AI-driven services benefit from stable connectivity even during peak demand.

The solution also supports large-scale events by increasing network capacity and optimising performance during concerts, sporting events and conferences. Artificial intelligence analyzes network conditions and event-related data to establish slicing policies that improve connectivity for VIP attendees, payment services, live broadcasting and event operations.

The intent-based slicing platform continuously evaluates network performance indicators while incorporating contextual information from multiple sources. It automatically modifies radio access network policies to ensure service-level agreements are maintained. The end-to-end solution spans radio, transport and core network layers and incorporates Nokia technologies including the AirScale base station platform, MantaRay Service Management and Orchestration and agentic AI modules integrated with the Amazon Bedrock artificial intelligence platform.

The agentic AI modules coordinate analytics, inference and policy adjustments using open Internet data sources such as event schedules, traffic conditions, weather and geographic information. The system can operate in several modes including chatbot-assisted configuration, scheduled automation, on-demand activation and fully autonomous operation. Integration with Amazon Bedrock allows AI agents to process network data and contextual information while optimizing network performance across multiple layers.

The solution is further enhanced by Nokia’s Edge Slicing capabilities, which allow cloud applications and workloads to be delivered closer to users over secure, high-capacity and low-latency connections. Amazon Bedrock provides access to advanced AI models and infrastructure used to develop specialized agents capable of analysing historical and real-time network data. Using Amazon EKS Hybrid Nodes, operators can deploy AI-driven workloads on existing infrastructure while managing cloud and edge environments through unified Kubernetes operations.

du will pilot the new technology in its live network to evaluate its ability to deliver highly responsive premium services for both enterprise and consumer use cases. Orange is also exploring the innovation as part of its ongoing efforts to develop advanced 5G capabilities and improve service personalization.

Nokia will present live demonstrations of the agentic AI-powered slicing solution at Mobile World Congress 2026, where visitors will be able to see the technology operating in a live environment.
