Metso accelerates minerals processing projects with upgraded OKTOP Conditioners and new engineering resource platform

(IN BRIEF) Metso has introduced a redefined OKTOP® Conditioner series aimed at boosting flotation efficiency by improving slurry preparation, reagent distribution, and residence time ahead of flotation circuits. The upgraded design features Metso’s latest agitator technology to strengthen durability and reduce reagent consumption, while ensuring effortless compatibility with units such as Metso TankCell® and Concorde Cell™. Suitable for a wide range of ore types—including oxidized sulfides, complex nickel and copper ores, and PGM applications—the conditioners can also be equipped with optional control features. At the same time, Metso is rolling out a new OKTOP Resource Center that provides quick access to 3D models, drawings, and layouts, helping customers reduce engineering costs and accelerate early-stage project planning. Reinforcing Metso’s leadership in flotation technologies, the combined offering supports higher metallurgical performance and aligns with industry demands for more sustainable mineral processing.

(PRESS RELEASE) ESPOO, 13-Nov-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Metso has unveiled a redesigned OKTOP® Conditioner product series created to elevate flotation efficiency across minerals processing operations. Positioned directly upstream of flotation cells, these conditioners play a pivotal role in shaping a uniform slurry while ensuring that reagents are evenly dispersed. This controlled environment maximizes chemical contact and residence time—two essential components for achieving strong metallurgical outcomes throughout a flotation circuit.

Ville Strömmer, OKTOP Reactors Product Manager at Metso, emphasized that the refreshed Conditioner series is engineered to bring out the full performance of flotation technologies. “Our updated OKTOP Conditioners are built to improve durability, streamline reagent consumption, and strengthen overall circuit efficiency. They seamlessly integrate with any flotation system, including Metso TankCell® and Concorde Cell™, enabling quicker design work and smooth installation and commissioning,” he noted.

The OKTOP Conditioner lineup supports a broad variety of processing scenarios, ranging from oxidized sulfide ores and silicates to phosphates, nickel and copper-bearing complex sulfides, copper-molybdenite separation, and PGM metals. Optional enhancements can be included for even more precise operational control, providing adaptability to site-specific requirements.

Alongside the product launch, Metso has introduced a new OKTOP Resource Center, giving both customers and Metso experts immediate access to 3D equipment models, general arrangement drawings, and foundation designs. By offering pre-engineered, validated layouts for OKTOP units, the platform shortens early engineering phases, speeds up project decision-making, and lowers design costs. Additional agitated reactor product families will soon be added to the Resource Center.

Renowned for its comprehensive flotation offering, Metso continues to pair long-standing expertise with modern engineering. Its portfolio covers laboratory testing, industrial equipment, automation tools, and lifecycle services, supporting customers as they work toward improved metallurgical results and more sustainable processing solutions.
