Maersk’s investment in the region also contributes to the revitalization of Denain’s industrial land, providing an economic boost and enhancing regional connectivity.

(PRESS RELEASE) DENAIN, 25-Apr-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Maersk has officially opened its first warehouse in France, marking a significant milestone in its logistics offering. The 75,000 m² facility, located in GLP Park Denain in the Hauts-de-France region, is fully operational and represents a strategic addition to Maersk’s extensive network of over 40 warehouses and distribution centres across 15 European countries, and more than 500 such facilities globally.

Aymeric Chandavoine, EVP and President of Europe at A.P. Moller – Maersk, expressed the importance of the new facility: “The opening of this warehouse signifies more than just a physical presence; it is a commitment to the French market, to our customers here, and to the local community. Our expanded network ensures that we can meet the diverse logistics needs of our customers wherever they are, now also in France.”

The new warehouse is strategically located in Hauts-de-France, a region that has grown into a key logistics hub over the past few decades, thanks to modern transport infrastructure, including advanced road, rail, and air networks. Its proximity to major European cities such as Paris, Brussels, and London has positioned the region as one of Europe’s leading logistics centres.

Philippe Graziani, Managing Director of Ares Real Estate, remarked, “This warehouse not only enhances Maersk’s logistics capabilities but also serves as a catalyst for economic growth in the region. The collaboration between Maersk, the local authorities, and the community has been instrumental in bringing this project to fruition.”

The opening ceremony on April 23, 2025, was attended by various dignitaries, highlighting the facility’s importance to the local economy. Maersk’s establishment in Denain is part of a broader initiative to transform a former industrial wasteland into a modern logistics hub, creating hundreds of jobs and revitalizing the area. As part of this transformation, Maersk is contributing to the regeneration of the local economy and addressing key challenges in the logistics sector, including technological advancements and work quality.

Anne-Lise Dufour-Tonini, Mayor of Denain, added, “Maersk’s arrival is a historic turning point for Denain. It not only contributes to local job creation but also plays a vital role in the repurposing of industrial land, breathing new life into our community.”

The new warehouse, certified with BREEAM Very Good, is equipped with 85 loading doors, an 11.40-meter beam height, a 5 t/m² floor load, and a 35-meter truck yard. Additionally, the facility includes separate circulation paths for heavy goods and light vehicles and is outfitted with an automated docking system (Autodocks).
