Landis+Gyr completed Project Management Professional Certification for its entire North American team of Gridstream® deployment project and program managers

ATLANTA, GA., 15-8-2014 — /EuropaWire/ — Landis+Gyr today announced completion of Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification for its entire North American team of Gridstream® deployment project and program managers. PMP is a globally-recognized certification in project management by the Project Management Institute.

Landis+Gyr’s deployment services team manages all aspects of advanced metering and smart grid technology deployments utilizing a proprietary action plan and documented processes. Attaining certification for the entire team supports the ongoing objective to implement solutions with the lowest overall risk and highest customer satisfaction.

Bruce Lovelin, Chief Engineer at Central Lincoln PUD, said the project team was integral to the success of multiple smart grid projects at his utility. “When considering vendors, it is relatively easy to evaluate cost and technology. However, it is much more difficult to appraise effective project management and post-deployment customer support,” Lovelin said. “After installation of the most transformational project I have ever been involved with, I can easily say that our success came in large part to the highly competent and process-driven project management team at Landis+Gyr.”

As an ongoing Landis+Gyr initiative, PMP certification is required of new hires within their first six months at the company.  “Whether among those with years of experience or new to Landis+Gyr, best practices and consistency in our processes ensure all program managers lead projects with a defined scope and position utilities to rapidly achieve their business case objectives,” said Tim Weidenbach, Senior Vice President, Customer Delivery at Landis+Gyr. “The PMP certification validates the experience and know-how we bring to each of our customers.”

“Utilities are increasingly reliant on advanced smart grid solutions for seamless integration of various components such as renewables, grid automation, conservation voltage reduction, security, consumer engagement, and dynamic pricing—all requiring top-notch program and project managers who can lead cross-functional teams to project success,” said Chris Testa, Director of Systems Deployment at Landis+Gyr. “It is imperative we provide an accountable and committed professional to lead all resources and make sure milestones are met, quality is uncompromised, risks are mitigated, and delivery is on-target.”

Landis+Gyr is a global leader in delivering energy and resource management technologies to electric, water and gas utilities, and has successfully implemented some of the largest advanced metering and grid automation deployments in North America and around the world.
