Essity and ANDRITZ Unveil New Eco-Friendly Steam System for Stubbins Mill

Scheduled to begin operations in late 2024, this system will generate up to 25% of the steam needed for the mill’s Yankee by utilizing exhaust air, which will cut down on gas consumption, energy costs, and CO2 emissions. The PrimeDry YES is noted for its efficient thermal recovery and ease of operation. The new venture involves the installation of ANDRITZ’s cutting-edge PrimeDry YES (Yankee Eco Steam System), set to commence in the fourth quarter of 2024.

The PrimeDry YES represents a significant advancement in energy efficiency. By harnessing exhaust air from the Yankee hood, the system generates high-pressure steam, fulfilling up to 25% of the steam requirements for the Yankee. This innovation is expected to reduce the mill’s reliance on traditional boiler-generated steam, leading to substantial decreases in gas consumption, energy costs, and CO2 emissions. The standalone nature of the PrimeDry YES system allows for seamless integration and independent operation, simplifying control and reducing maintenance requirements.
