CAF Lands €100 Million+ Service Contracts for São Paulo Metro Line 5 and Auckland Rail Fleet

(IN BRIEF) CAF has won two maintenance contracts worth over €100 million: a 14-year full-service agreement for 26 six-car trainsets on São Paulo Metro Line 5, operated by Motiva Group, and a five-year support contract with Auckland One Rail for 95 electric units on Auckland’s rail network. These deals underscore CAF’s global aftersales expertise, adding to its portfolio of 150+ maintenance contracts, 11,600 cars under care, and a 4,000-strong workforce. The São Paulo project strengthens CAF’s €2 billion-plus investment in Brazil since 1998, while the Auckland contract reaffirms its commitment to sustainable urban mobility in New Zealand.

(PRESS RELEASE) BEASÁIN, 17-Jun-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — CAF has secured two new maintenance agreements exceeding €100 million in combined value, further cementing its role as a global rail-service provider. With over 150 active service contracts across 20 countries—covering maintenance for 11,600 cars—and more than 4,000 dedicated employees, CAF continues to expand its aftersales and lifecycle-support offerings.

São Paulo Metro Line 5 (Lilac):
CAF will deliver 14 years of full-service maintenance for the 26 six-car trainsets it originally supplied under a 2011 contract. Operated by Motiva Group (formerly CCR) at the Capão Redondo and Guido Caloi workshops, these electric multiple units transport over 600,000 passengers daily along the 20 km Lilac Line, which links key districts such as Santo Amaro, Moema and Vila Mariana. This extension reinforces CAF’s longstanding Brazilian presence—dating back to 1998—and builds on more than €2 billion of rail projects completed for CPTM, Trensurb, CBTU and São Paulo Metro.

Auckland Electric Rail Network:
In New Zealand, CAF has inked a five-year service contract with Auckland One Rail Limited (AOR), a ComfortDelGro/UGL joint venture managing Auckland Transport’s 94 km, four-line network. Under the agreement, CAF will provide engineering support, staff training and spare-parts supply for the 95 electric trainsets delivered since 2011. All maintenance activities will take place at the Wiri workshop in Auckland, ensuring seamless fleet availability for the city’s commuters.
