BMT WBM collaborated projects with Brisbane and Logan City Councils win Healthy Waterways Awards

Teddington, UK, 3-9-2014 — /EuropaWire/ — BMT WBM (BMT), a subsidiary of BMT Group Ltd, the leading international maritime design, engineering and risk management consultancy, has collaborated with Brisbane and Logan City Councils on two project wins. These are respectivelythe Brisbane City Creek Filtration andSlacks Creek Catchment Recovery Projects.

BMT WBM was a major sponsor of the 14th Annual Healthy Waterways Government Awards. Tony McAlister, Managing Director at BMT WBM commented: “BMT WBM is proud to continue to sponsor the Government Award category of the Healthy Waterways Awards.  We see this as important recognition of the role of all government agencies in ensuring our waterways continue to be looked after under increasing human pressures”.

Brisbane City Council, who won the Creek Filtration Project, constructed three creek filtration systems in Ferny Grove, Holland Park and Greenslopes to filter stormwater before it is discharged to sensitive receiving environments. Project benefits include improved water quality, decreased stormwater runoff and enhanced social amenity and ecological values.

The Slacks Creek Catchment Recovery Project won by Logan City Council, was initiated by Logan City Council to “activate, beautify and clean” the waterway for long-term community and environmental benefits. The project included community tree plantings, clean-up activities, art installations and environmental enhancement.
