The project, located in Currais Novos, Brazil, will operate within Aura’s open-pit mine and is projected to process 2 Mtpy of ore, with commercial production slated to commence in the third quarter of 2025. (PRESS RELEASE) SOLNA, 3-May-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Aura Minerals (Aura) has selected AFRY to provide a comprehensive range of services, including multidisciplinary detailed Engineering, Procurement, Construction Management (EPCM) and commissioning for the Borborema Project gold processing plant.

The Borborema project will be built in the Aura’s open pit mine located in Currais Novos, around 170 km from the capital of Rio Grande do Norte and will have the capacity to process 2 Mtpy of ore. Commercial production is expected to start in the third quarter of 2025. The mine has an expected production of 748,000 ounces (oz) of gold over its lifecycle, initially estimated at 11 years, with the possibility of additional production increases. The estimated investment value is US$188 million. The value of the order for AFRY has not been disclosed.
