  • Total prize money of EUR 30,000 for the winners
  • Application phase ends 7 March 2016

Frankfurt am Main, 11-12-2015 — /EuropaWire/ — “Urban living – houses in the city” is this year’s topic of the KfW Award for Construction and Housing, as life in the city is currently growing increasingly attractive. Prizes are awarded to private builders or joint building ventures who have built or modernised an inner-city building with at least three housing units in the last five years. The projects are assessed based on the balance achieved between modern design, energy and cost efficiency, the optimal usage of rooms and space and their individual comfort. The prize money for the KfW Award totals EUR 30,000. The first five winners together receive a total of EUR 25,000, and the other five best-ranking projects receive prize money of EUR 1,000 each.

“More and more people and families are drawn to the cities today. The demand for future-oriented and affordable accommodation, which also fits the needs of communal living, is therefore particularly high,” says Dr Ingrid Hengster, Member of the Executive Board of KfW Group, and stresses: “With this award, KfW wishes to distinguish outstanding solutions that combine cosiness, energy-efficient construction and a modern architecture, while at the same time retaining their value for several generations down through the years.”

Submissions must be postmarked no later than 7 March 2016. The KfW Award will be presented during a festive award ceremony on 23 June 2016 at KfW’s Berlin offices.
